Who will be 1st to go
I know I will cope abit over this, but who will be the first v8 driver to loose his drive in 2009. Will it be Tim Slade or Micheal Patrizi?. Will they last the season?.

It'll be the first one whose damage bill exceeds their ego (and chequebook), or the first one whose big sponsor cries "economic crisis".

Caruso is my guess. Garry's never been backwards in putting people off. If not Caruso it'll be Slade. Morris will say how he could do a better job himself etc if Slade causes a bit stack!!

As has been stated with the majority of the field (or their fathers) buying rides I dont think you will see any of these drivers being dropped.
The lunatic Rogers would have to be odds on favourite to have a brain snap and sack one of his drivers. |

No GTR, Auslec is not on the GRM machines any more. I would say Caruso would be the next bloke under the spot light in all honesty. Regardless of whether he bought sponsor dollars with him or not, if he doesn't start showing results this year, that could be the end of him at GRM. |

I think the first might be Jonny Ried. Favourite of the TKR team and drove the car at the Queensland test last Wednesday, depending on the resolution of the ownership wrangle he might not even get to start a race.
Not sacked, but the thread says '1st to go', not '1st to be sacked'. |

With reference to the GRM situation. Leethal is obviously pretty safe.
As for Robbo, he showed glimpses of what he can do last year. He was awesome in Hamilton, backed-up Leethal beautifally at PI and Bathurst and finished the year in solid fashion at Oran Park. Yes, he will have to be more consistent and within the Top 15-20 on a regular basis (something which I think he is very much capable of), but Robbo impressed a lot of people last year, including Garry. 2009 will be make-or-break, no doubt. If his late season form of 2008 continues into 2009 he will keep his seat until year's end. One thing that Robbo has over Canto is his ability to keep the car on the circuit on a much more regular basis. |

Having said that, I doubt anyone will get the chop solely based on the problem of sacking a driver who could pull sponsor $$ from the team. There isn't much $$ out there so teams can't be too picky at the moment. Canto didn't keep the car on the track as much as Caruso because he had sh!t engines and had to drive the ass off the car. The WP engines would've helped Canto but he didn't get the opportunity - that's racing - sponsors like their product on the track and owners like packing a clean car away at the end of a meet. However he did pretty well keeping the Howard Racing car on the track and up the front and likewise with the DJR dev drive before the GRM stint - hmm co-incidence?. |

Reality: PMM to enter 021 - Dean Fiore to drive enough said |

Also, poor equipment is not a valid reason to throw a car off the road on a regular basis. As a GRM supporter, the sight of #34 on the grass at just about every race meeting in 2007 was a disappointing sight to say the least. |
