That has come out of nowhere!
Presumably Petrov has the other seat? |

The other driver has to be a pay driver. I'm guessing whichever of Petrov or Senna brings the most money

Genii have put in quite a bit of cash recently, will LRGP even have a pay driver as a priority this year?

I really hope this doesn't mean curtains for Senna, he's been magnificent in moments this year.

Shame about Grosjean and Senna....but to be fair I would have gone with Kimi too if it was up to me. This is fantastic.
SIX world champions in the field for 2012, that's a quarter of the field (Vettel/Alonso/Hamilton/Button/Schumacher/Raikkonen) |

I don't believe it's Kimi. If you read that report they quote him making a statement of more than three syllables!

Great news and I would imagine most drivers in the paddock will be thrilled considering how popular he is. Just hope Renault give him a good car for the job.. Welcome back Kimi..

Hopefully this will be a shot in the arm that Renault need - they looked like a team in decline this year. As impressive as Senna and Petrov have been at times this season, an on-form Raikonnen should be in a different league.
Will Kimi still have "it" after a couple of years away? |

Its a shame for Senna who I have been impressed with this year. He has outperformed Petrov and really shone at times. It was good for Bruno to show that he's more than just a famous name Quote:
We all know that Kimi isnt a development driver, he's always been a guy that drove what he was given, but his presence could galvanise the squad. The one thing about this signing that I cant stop thinking about is just how much the team will regret having let so many people from the Alonso championship era leave the team. Those people knew how to win championships and build a team, now LRGP have to take time to develop their engineers, designer etc to the level that they can fully utilise a driver of Kimi's ability |

Great story as it is I can't help but feel Kimi's return's not going to be as great as some people think it will be. It's also strange after the little row he and the team had a year ago?
Brilliant to have so many big name champions in the entry but only as long as they are contributing to the team they drive for and sport as a whole, otherwise why not keep giving drives to the newer drivers who might be the future. Obviously it makes sense for sponsorship potential and the like and I will be pleased if he is on it because in his day he was such a force in the McLaren's!! |

that's a firm indication there's no plans to accomodate robert kubica then, and in context of the previous week's drama over his statement and their statement and so on it makes sense.
i'm not sure he's going to provide any kind of leadership beyond inadvertent hero-worship though. his management have played a blinder though. |

If a championship winning Ferrari can't motivate him what chance a pretty average Lotus will.

Petrov and Raikkonen, debriefing will certainly be short.

I suppose the management decided that if Bob was still going to be out they had to have a proven winner and/or a driver who would be regarded as a number 1 in one of the cars.

It's certainly good news, though this "amazing" field of 6 WDC is pretty much just numbers, nothing more.
