Nurburgring info
I asked some basic questions a couple of months ago, but have just booked airline tickets and now it is a definite more info please!
Am flying from Australia with 14yo son for Le Mans and fly home out of Frankfurt on European GP day. I am thinking of going to Friday/Saturday and was after the following info( and any other ideas anyone might have!) - Travelling times - Frankfurt - N'ring Paris - N'ring Can I get tickets at gate Friday/Saturday - how busy? The old track is closed around that weekend - is it worth a few hours out of the way on the way to Le Mans the week before. Any other tourist/revhead ideas in the area. Thanks in advance. |

Isnt that mega race car museum near Frankfurt ? - sorry forgot its name - no doubt someone else will know - my guess is you'll be best off buying Fri/Sat Grand Prix tickets in advance - I know Silverstone is already sold out on the Sunday - there's a couple of dedicated websites - Nurburgring probably have one too - they also have a museum - there used to be a mileage worker-outer on the shell website : http://www1.shell.com/es-en/applicat...,30810,00.html or similar - have a good trip

check www.shellgeostar.com for all your road directions/distances and routes. It knows where all the GP circuits are. Guess you're going to best off with a hire car than trying to train it.

Bianco Rosso Museum is the one I'm thinking of near Frankfurt - you're probably quite close to the Schlumf in Mulhouse - and I think you'll find EuroDisney on the way from Paris to the Ring - not much to do with cars but a great way to spend a day !

Thanks for the info - yes we have a hire car - mighty Pug 106 - should be good for a hot lap around the 'ring! The other thing I forgot to ask, anyone know the program/support races at the GP - do the DTM cars get a run?

More info please! Someone thought you couldn't get tickets just for Friday/Saturday but the website says something about Friday/Saturday "cards" not being available in advance - suggesting I suppose you can get them at the track. Anyone know?

Clemond Ferrand is not far from the 'ring.
Used for F1 four times in teh seventies. J Stewart won twice. Monster course. Well worth seeing/driving. The ring is not open for driving every day. You need to check with tehm first. There is one more track nearby but cant remember which one. if you go to http://gplpp.com, this is a site for tracks for the Grand Prix Legends game. have a hunt through teh tracks lists and you will get pictures of the Clermond track and the other one. It is a fairly slow site but the pics are well worth it as GPL track makers pride themselves on teh high levels of accuracy in the game from scenery to handling. |
