LMP1 Points Allocations with ILMC Structure
Intercontinental Le Mans Cup was awesome. Too awesome. Now, how would it's (IMO much better) 2011 points structure change the landscape of the WEC LM P1 had it been utilized instead of the current one with it's sub classes and different positionings?
ILMC (2011) Team Point Structure - All teams (works & privateer) under same roof, no sub trophies - Only highest placed car of the team scores points, no separate standing for individual cars - Points of 15-13-11-9-8-7-6-5-4-3-2-1, Pole 1, LM double for race points ---------------------------------------------------------------- 2012 WEC-ILMC LMP1 Points 1) Audi Sport Team Joest 134p 2) Rebellion Racing 102p 3) Strakka Racing 87p 4) JRM 74p 5) Toyota Racing 61p 6) Oak Racing 21p 7) Pescarolo Sport 13p POSITIONAL IMPLICATIONS: If integrated, Rebellion & Strakka & JRM move ahead of Toyota. If the Pescarolo Dome was counted at Spa, it would go to 21p and be tied with Oak for 6th 2013 WEC-ILMC LMP1 Points 1) Audi Sport Team Joest 119.5p 2) Toyota Racing 93.5p 3) Rebellion Racing 8035p 4) Strakka Racing 31p POSITIONAL IMPLICATIONS: N/A 2014 WEC-ILMC LMP1 Points 1) Toyota Racing 131p 2) Porsche Team 111p 3) Audi Sport Team Joest 102p 4) Rebellion Racing 87p 5) Lotus/Kolles 16p POSITIONAL IMPLICATIONS: Porsche passes Audi 2015 WEC-ILMC LMP1 Points (7/8 so far) 1) Porsche Team 123p 2) Audi Sport Team Joest 108p 3) Toyota Racing 88p 4) Rebellion Racing 52p 5) Team ByKolles 34p 6) Nissan Motorsports 0p POSITIONAL IMPLICATIONS: If integrated, Rebellion & ByKolles move ahead of Nissan. Also Audi still within theoretical reach for first place if Porsche scores nothing at last round and they take pole and win NOTE There was separate Manufacturers Cup in ILMC though where multiple factory team cars counted for points, I might do that later too. But the point of this post here was to mainly demonstrate the difference between factories and privateers joined in together and it's implications Last edited by joeb; 8 Nov 2015 at 21:51. |

Can you let us know what the FINANCIAL implications of these possible changes in finishing order have? Granted, you can't speculate on the potential changes in sponsor revenue or valuation but are there any regulation written differences in payouts for these differences in finishing order?

It makes sense though, they don't have the TV revenue that F1 has nor do they charge the circuits exorbitant/extortionate fees to host a race. I believe until a few years ago the manufacturers had to pay a fee so that the TV coverage could be made.

There should be something as carrot though, at the moment even the regional series have better prizes for champ winners, ie auto LM entries. WEC entries get LM entries at the beginning of year too right, but if team X wins WEC class this year and decides to go say to IMSA next year, it won't necessarily get LM slot, unlike would be the case with say ELMS auto entry.
WEC champs get nothing - and again as said before, the only ones that get crowned as actual World Champions are in LMP1 Hybrid, the rest are just Trophy winners. I guess theres some World Cup in GTE too but its not the same And finally, ELMS will hand out money next year! http://www.dailysportscar.com/2015/1...te-change.html How do they have the cash, but not WEC with their big fees? P.S mods, post 4 please Last edited by Deleted; 7 Nov 2015 at 20:09. |

No (barring Nissan positioning below privateers), but as I said in the first post Audi could've still taken it theoretically at Bahrain under this scheme.
2012 and 14 had changes though |
