V8 Supercars power to be reduced.

I was party to a conversation today between a rep of a company that supplies to the V8 Supercar industry and a competitor in another class. One mentioned that he has been told that V8 Supercars have intentions of reducing the power output of V8 Supercar and it may not be that far off. There are apparently other changes to the specs of the cars being mooted as well.

Hmmmm....

So them teams will then go ahead and look for new mods, and new shortcuts, and get power back, advataging one team, etc....

Not the way to go.

It's supposed to be the premier category in the country, nay, world if you listen to TC.

Cap the development of the engines NOW, or make two control engines (SBR/DJR, and LPR/HMS engines for example) and hand these to the teams with an embedded scrutineer/engineer.

This would bring the costs down while ensuring that engine hp is controlled by TEGA. Although I guess it would put a few people out of jobs.

I couldn't stay long enough to see if the conversation went into any detail or not but from what i heard it will be achieved by control parts.

Would probably be better if it was Kelvin's power that was reduced Billy.

Well it would align somewhat with Toyota and Mitsubishi's engines wouldn't it?

You need to suggest that to the F4000 people.

Well the V8 Supercar circuits has the perfect opportunity to get rid of the development series.... and..

Create a 2ltr series open to all manufacturers.. to run under the v8supercars.. with the same rules, and regulations on parity.

there is only so much holden and ford a man can take.

And kill the market for second-hand V8SC's? Not likely

Why should it be up to V8 Supercars Australia to start a 2L series for the manufacturers?
If they want to do it, let them get it going themselves.
V8SA have found a successful formula and promote a fantastic product, if other car makers want in then they need to put the money in that Ford and Holden have and see what they can do.
There are other production car based series already around, for the people 'sick' of the V8s, they need to support those series so they continue and can prosper.
I love a variety of racing to but we are lucky to have such a professional series in this country, yes it has its faults, but nothing is perfect. I dont agree with everything they do or with all the rules (the ownership rules for a start, I dont care who owns the cars I just want to see them on the track) but I am grateful for the things they do well.

I actually think the TEGA world needs to have a proper operational structure, with express power in different levels of management, that require either non-executive board or executive management approval (and not necessarily interchangeably) to perform various functions

There are strict limits as to what the Kelvinmonster can and cannot do as head of TEGA... and while the media (including the spinmeisters at VESA) would like to portray him as a powerful figure... someone who at a whim can make calls to decline entries or leap tall buildings... or somesuch...

There should be a genuine overseer board... with a non-executive chairman... a proper CEO.. with various functional committees with express powers with regards to operation... and also a demand that they talk to their teams, the 2 car makers and the drivers and get feedback about all before eating their size 9 jackboots...

Or not...
