WebberForWDC should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Slow 2nd car line-ups anyway, so let HPDC's into the 1000!

Slower drivers have still bought their way in they are just in level one cars, such as the 2nd Perkins Castrol car buried in the fence at Sandown for example!

So why not let say 6 to 10 HPDC cars into the 1000, to make a less pathetic sized grid of up to around 40 cars.
  • For example the Smiths Truck HPDC entry was faster than a number of level one's last year in the 1000. So to say HPDC entries are a "roadblock" simply isn't true, and conversely I would be very suprised if the 2nd L1 Britek car is still on the lead lap after the first stint!
  • Some of the slower drivers have simply moved from otherwise running in HPDC cars to arranging level one drives for themselves, before prompting causing a safety car anyway (!) even though HPDC's aren't allowed. So you may as well let HPDC's entries in, and don't make it an exclusive club for the drivers who have the contacts to make their way in.

The only other problem is the AVESCO franchise price-inflating money agenda.

They could atleast fill the last two spots lefts in terms of Garages, then the boom situation would still be tidy!!!

And also limit it to HPDC teams without any Level 1 or 2 links, Ie the Smiths Trucks entry, make them bid the highest to AVESCO for a gig in the 1000.....

A pity the Smiths Trucks entry is affiliated with PMM isnt it... (blows a hole in the argument...)

Based on the Championship standings I guess SER could run the Kanga car with MacDonald and someone else due to Porter being with WOW Mark Howard could run a Howard car with someone and Smiths Trucks could run. Possibly the Hi Trans entry.

PCR and DJR couldnt run due to drivers being busy with enduros. It would be good to see BJR or DJR field a 3rd car but cant happen I guess.

a shame really.

I used to love the privateers (as such) turning up at Bathurst and having a crack at the great race and some did a very good job indeed.

I hope this situation changes at some point in the future to allow others into the field

I'll have to read up on this, but wasn't the Konicas an entry level class for the V8s for both Ford and Holden?

Does Ford have a similar class to HPDC (FPDC?)

The HPDC development Sereis welcomes both Ford and GM/Holden. HPDC is only there as a sponsor of the series

Maybe the embarassment of Supercar teams being spanked by supposed second tier outfits is something organisers are trying to avoid?

I'm not against this, but aren't the basic regulations slightly different between the main series and the development series...meaning that to race a car in both support races and the 1000 race would require swapping the car between two configurations (not sure how easy or difficult this is), OR having two cars, OR having 6-10 less cars on the support races?

Well it's 100kg of lead and very limited datas I think. But many operations don't actually have data people etc. anyway so I don't think that's a problem.

I suppose it means a few cars less in the support race, if the support race were to hypothetically not carry championship points.

It might be worthwhile to let all the HPDC runners that think they can qualify, turn up to a pre-qualifying for the race and those that can't run inside say 2:16, aren't allowed in the 1000 km race and must run in a non-points support race.

well here is a bloody sensible suggestion, which means that unfortunately it has no chance of happening.

I think it's quite amusing.

When they have no other competition some old Briggs BAs, and a couple of DJR BAs can actually win races! Too bad when you add a field of VZ's and Stone Brothers BA's etc. it doesn't work so well.

I'm perhaps a bit concerned that the Beehag shells aren't condusive to good handling, esp. as all the winning fords are done in house with more customisation of the engineering, as DJR haven't won races for far too long indeed no Beehag teams have.

AVESCO have rocks in their heads. I heard recently that they wanted the 1000 field to be 32-car restricted. That's ridiculous. Bathurst was always the place where the field was the biggest and the best on an annual basis. I don't see any problem with the HPDC guys having a crack in practice and qualifying, as WebberForWDC suggested.
