general motors are apparently reassesing its racing operations in a bid to improve the way things are run by the team..they are evaluating every aspect of the program which includes the possibility of a new chassis for 2001 and a V12 engine for 2002..their not so good performance at le man is one of the reasons behind this when they raced to 20th,22nd and 23rd positions in the 24hr race..executive director herb Fishel commented that "What we have learnt over the last 2 years in sportscar racing is that we need to be alot smarter about our vehicle..we need to draw from some of our powerfull internal tools and leverage that resource into the cars"...the cadillac northstar cars will also gain a 20-25 hp increase before their next appearence at the petit le man race on sept 30 thanks to Mclaren engines..and sadly it seems they may miss the final round at Adelaide because it seems "a little out of reach"..which is a huge dissapointment to the Aussie fans who are waiting patiently to see these cars..they are also considering running a Corvette for Ron fellows at Mosport on August 6 as it is his home event.
this seems a very logical step for them to take as it has been a trying year to date for them and pin pointing where you may have problems and then dealing with them is always the best way to move forward..good luck to them and lets hope they move closer to the front of the field once this is all sorted.
