I saw it. This does NOT look good. Military police sounds bad enough. Then you add resisting arrest, alcohol, narcotics, and a suspended license to the mix, well, that's a nasty stack of charges.

Thats a shame for Melo that hes ended up like this. Ive often wondered what hes been up to since he drove for Luxury Racing last year in WEC. Last I heard he was doing some tv work for a Brazilian network although Im not 100% on this.
Sounds like he has some personal issues to sort out but resisting arrest by the military police doesnt help at all. |

Yeah really a shame that a guy can slip from being on the podium at Le Mans last year to this.

Think that's probably just a quirk of Speed.com's "more like this" engine, i.e. they're both "about" sportscars and written by John Dagys, rather than implying any connection between Melo's arrest and Rebellion's future plans...

Backhander ..... 3rd world politics I expect .
I wish Melo all the best . Whatever the results of this alledged crime ..... if drugs are involved , he wont be allowed to race in any FIA sanctioned events ..... much like Enge . |

Perhaps a story of chickens and eggs - and it was Ferrari/Corse Clienti, I think, not AF Corse which was just one of the placements for factory drivers.
As for an FIA ban, it's possible but it's a different beast from either of the Enge situations. For one, both times Enge ran afoul of FIA-administered tests. The other is that the second Enge situation is more complicated since unlike the cannabis test there was clearly something involving a health issue, what with the statement that he had been and would continue talking with the FIA and that he was under the impression his treatment regime was OK. The military police bit sounds sinister, but it probably is less so. For one, as I understand military police are the active patrol police at the state level in Brazil. For another, he was arrested in a courtyard of a military police station, so who else could have done it? |

Fleeing the scene, by running into the courtyard of a police station, only to resist arrest. Not alot of thought went into that. This has really taken me by surprise.
The important thing is that nobody got hurt. |

Resisting arrest , also means , while being arrested , you say "no , your not arresting me as I haven't done anything wrong" ..... under Florida law . It could be quite that simple too .

Did someone ask why he was drop from Ferrari Corse Clienti in first place? Perhaps the answer is there.

From a rich family, nightclubbing, allegedly driving without a licence under the influence of narcotics and alcohol.....and people are wishing him all the best ? Sounds like a spoilt brat who has too much money and no personal responsibility.
I hope he gets all that he deserves, he could have killed some innocent people. |

Basically that. What he did was stupid and I certainly dont think anybody is codoning that-its more so the disappointment in the direction that his life has taken.

His sportscar career was already compromised because of his mistakes during 2011 season and a bit of unluck (luxury racing withdraw). Adrian Sutil had worse issues with law and somehow he managed to come back in F1.
