Danish Touring Cars

Press release about the Danish Touring Car Championship:

Quote:
The 2002 edition of the Danish Touringcar Championship will be contested over a total of eight rounds on three different circuits. The mainstay of the championship will once again be Jyllands-Ringen, where the season will start on May 12th. The DTC circus will be back on the twisty circuit in June, and then there will be the traditional double header round for Denmark’s largest national motorsporting event, the Grand Prix, on the weekend between August and September. Finally the series is set to be decided on September 29th.

Twice the DTC drivers will battle it out on the nation’s most difficult circuit, Ring Djursland, with rounds in May and August. As was the case in 2001 the Danish Touringcar Championship will also make a guest appearance on Ring Knutstorp during July, which is an extremely popular venue, as the circuit in southern Sweden is reachable by a 45 minute car-ride from the capital of Copenhagen.

The field for the 2002 series is far from confirmed, but it will contain a number of interesting new driver, car and team combinations.

Reigning champion Michael Carlsen will be trying to get a hat trick of DTC titles onboard a brand-new Peugeot 307, which is under construction, while the Peugeot Statoil Motorsport pair of Jason Watt and Jan Magnussen will also be switching to the new model, after having finished in second and fifth places respectively overall last year. Peugeot Statoil Motorsport has also announced that it will be fielding the ex-Watt 306 for talented youngster Martin Jensen, who raised a few eyebrows last year, when he ran a far from competitive Volvo S40.

A new team to the Danish Touringcar Championship will be the official Team Toyota, which is having two racing versions of the new Corolla being built by racecar wizard Jørgen Nielsen. The team will be run from the premises where Henrik Lundgaard housed his WRC campaign in recent years, and the former European Rally Champion will also be driving one of the cars alongside Kurt Thiim, who makes a comeback to the series in which he had a few outings in 2000.

Try the official site that Carrie suggested. You don't need to understand Danish to work out the calendar.
