Hungarian 12hr 9th October
The baby brother of the Dubai 24 hours, now in its 3rd year is only 2 weeks away & for the first time, live english language commentary will be streamed across the internet. The Hungaroring has been criticised in the past, but the Le Mans Series race showed us that even this tight, technical track can deliver an excellent endurance event. After a difficult first year (the race was meant to be 24hrs, but nimbys blocked running through the night), the 2009 event featured 30 cars & for 2010 an entry list has been announced that can boast teams such as Marcos, Lechner, Konrad, Sunred and ARC Bratislava with cars as diverse as the Saker & Brokernet taking on the ubiquitous Porsche, Audi & BMW machines. The 2009 race was won by Schubert's BMW Z4 - the same team who took the inaugural spoils, but with them choosing to miss this year's race the field is wide open; entrants have a habit of persevering (last year only 4 DNFs) & the pesky diesel BMWs are sure to cause a headache for the thirstier GT3 cars. Race starts 10:00 local time (09:00 UK time) 9th October; which means the finish will be conveniently just as the build up for the Bathurst 1000 starts. Really looking forward to that one... as you said, it's really pretty wide open with less than a handfull of current generation GT3-cars.
Basically, this should be a fight between the Lechner Racing Audi and WestCoast's BMW Z4, but if they don't make it over the distance, pretty much anyone can win - especially since some of the GT-machines entered are not really known for their reliability (homebuilt R8s, VDS-Mustang)... You doing the commentary, courageous? |

Guilty - I think my penchant for lesser known gems in the calendar has been well documented.

Can't watch that one - says it contains content from Sony Music that I can't access in Germany... Would it be possible to upload an "international" version without the music?

As if by magic (sure nobody has ever used that one before) - not just any addition, could be a contender.
Also, Dirk Muller added to the TTC diesel VW golf |

For sure not ideal.
a couple of A2 cars, the Musch BMW (which was to run solo in the SP3-GT4 class) & the Gomez Renault Megane silhouette seem to be what we have lost. JWA Porsche is a big gain though (and I understand that a couple of maybes are waiting in the wings). Hopefully some media news will be coming in the next couple of days that should improve the show. |

The entry list continues to do it's Bambi on ice routine:
Intersport (Britcar not ALMS obviousley) added with their BMW M3. Clarke/Gibson at the wheel. Marcos seem to have come off the list, will check that out in a second. |

Just checking - what are the '24H Specials' referred to in the race publicity?

Cars roughly built to Nürburgring 24h "SP"-regs, I'd supposse? I.e. touring cars that go beyond the scope of your usual S2000 or Clio-Cup-car... The kind of M3 that can hunt down Porsches and the like, I'd think. Even though those are getting rare, even at the Ring nowadays.
