Motegi 2006 Weekend (Please - No Spoilers)
Today's early practice session (Friday) may get rained out, and yesterday they had an abbreviated session after lots of rain as well.
The air temp is 46 F and it is cloudy...the track is drying slowly. Doesn't speak well for good speeds, and the lack of track time means they will be qualifying or racing on a green surface at a tough place to get a good set-up to "Crack the Egg"... I hope that the place does dry out (Saturday is supposed to be dry for the race) in time for qualifying and the final practice session, but right now, it does not look good for that prospect....at least for today.... More important, I hope that these weather problems do not cause problems that cause accidents, since teams will not have very much track time to sort their cars. Old notes will help, but they only go so far... Keep your fingers crossed...it could be a long, and damage-filled race weekend. |

that coupled with the fact that there's usually a lot of attrition at Motegi and 3 rookies (1 of which hasn't been in an indycar race in a year and a half) and 2 veterans that haven't been to Motegi since '03 (Giaffone and Lazier). The cold also may have some effect on reliability.

So as qualifying was rained out they will be in championship order for the line up of the race.

Sorry I haven't done a IRL race weekend thread. For U.K. viewers I think the earliest time the race will be shown is 9pm tomorrow on Sky Sports 3.

I hate it when qualifying is determined by points order. It's a handicaping system and unfair. Surely they could use final practive before the race or something?

they didn't use the practice speeds because group 2 didn't get a complete session in.
