Attending first GP (Canada)
Is it possible to buy a pit pass or do you have to belong there or be a celebrity to get in? Maybe Friday only? I strongly suspect that the answer to this question will be: but I had to ask. I am spoiled by my local track, VIR, where one can wander amongst the trailers and garages free of charge... the way it should be.

This will be my ninth (and tenth overall) Canadian Grand Prix, but I have never bothered to attend the pit walk even though I am usually in town on Thursday before the race. According to what I've heard, and as you would expect in the world of F1, most teams are very reluctant to put their cars on display or allow the fans to get close to them. The best time to see the cars up close is actually after the race when you can go down on the track and view the pits from behind the fence that stands between the track and the pits. However, don't be too concerned about such things--F1 is what it is, whether in Montreal or Monaco. Montreal is nevertheless a fantastic venue for F1 and you will have a great time at the race and in the city. If you have any other questions, post them here or send me a PM. |

I was lucky enough at the Aus GP this year to take a walk down pit lane, and at the Ferrari garages, talk to a mechanic and actually hold and play with the wheel covers! No photos unfortunatly, but he was very helpful nonetheless. If you can go on a pit walk, do, I found it to be good fun, even though there wasn't much going on.
Enjoy your 1st Grand Prix, I certainly did, and you will want to go to plenty more if you are anything like me. Mick |
