heard a rumor that the chicane at knicker-brook at Oulton Park is being taken out.. is it true ? and if so what are your thoughts on the matter !

i don't want to be on clay hill when it all goes pear shaped also
what speed will the F3 be doing when they take off at clay hill

Isn't the whole reason its there because Paul Warwick died and the lack of run off at knickerbrook? I've not heard anything about it though ..

Hope so. After all the old circuit is still there and usable.

Keep Knickers take out Foulston's. More two by two into knickers.

This is the better option of the 2. Knickerbrook doesn't have enough run off but foulstons chicane doesn't really do anything for the racing.

Hadn't heard this but if it's true, hooray. Get Knicker back to being the great corner it used to be. It sorted the men from the boys. Yes, it may have been dangerous but you only need to go as fast as you feel comfortable with.

When Paul died there was no run off and no gravel trap (there never used to be at Lodge either). So even with the chicane removed it will be safer than it was in 1991.

im sure if they did alter knickerbrook if they moved the pc box back and straightened the bend just a little it would make it a lot better and faster but still safe but then what speed over clay hill and who will catch them at water tower could make it very interesting

Still remember doing a single venue stage event at Oulton in late 70s early 80s, I guess.....co-driving a nutter called Charlie Belfield in a V12 XJS...I remember on one stage on the second lap him changing up into top as we passed Hilltop and accelerating hard towards Knickerbrook - then he threw it into the corner and we ran wide and sideways......I looked out of my window at the tyrewall approaching (very fast) and thought of the helpful things I could say - like "mind the wall".....glanced over at Charlie and he had his foot hard on the gas, and was looking over his shoulder to check on the progress of the guy we'd passed on the way done from Hilltop...miraculously we regained the track just behind the other guy, passed him as we went over Clay Hill, and continued to complete our lap and into the paddock...

I tidied my paperwork and got out as Charlie was busy checking the tyres....only to notice that the rear bumper rubber was missing....... We'd got that close to the tyrewall that it had snagged the outer rubber and peeled it off!

I was just pointing this out as the Tannoy announcement came on to advise that " Charlie Belfield - the marshals at Knicker Brook have your rear bumper......" Guess who had to go collect it?!

Loved the old corner

Power Bulge should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
The story I heard was that clubs will be given a choice to run with either Brittens chicane or Hizzys. That means cars will be able to run the old Knickerbrook corner if they choose to use Brittens*
