Top 20 greatest or favourite F1 cars
By popular demand (bjohnsonsmith), I would like you to put in order your greatest or favourite F1 cars. If you can't come up with 20, that's fine. Off you go.
Note: This thread was started as a reaction to the number of driver threads that get started. It will be interesting to see which one sinks without trace the first. Last edited by Marbot; 27 Aug 2012 at 18:05. |

I don't know where it would go on my top twenty, but the BRM Type 15 (with that incredible V16) would definitely have to be on there.

I do have a greater perverse interest in the rust-buckets that have occasionally graced the F1 grid. That Toleman Truck Henton had to haul around, 'the Life' old Giacomelli crawled about in before it came to a smokey decidedly lifeless hulk at the end of the lane. Gachot's Coloni Subaru anyone? Fun days.
My favourites won't startle anyone. The McLaren MP4/4, the Jordan 191 and an honourable mention going to the Brabham fan car. IMO, if the rule makers quietly steered their efforts into making cars look a bit more like the cars in circa 1988-94 era then the sport would be a little better off. |

My favs in no particular order
Jordan 191, 199 Lotus 49, 79, 99Y Eurobrun ER189 - 15 DNPQ and 1 DNQ but the Jagermeister livery was the nuts Ligier/Prost JS45 Lola LC89 Life L190 - Comedicly bad, loveable for this reason Onyx ORE1 - A fair bit of potential in that car. Poor management ruined their chances Sauber C12 Williams FW10, FW26 (I Am The Walrus) Tyrrell P34, 012 Leyton House CG901 Minardi M193, PS01 Virgin VR-01 Arrows A10 |

Strictly speaking not an F1 car - the Ferrari 500 was surely the greatest, because it achieved what it set out to do.
I would think its win/start ratio was better than the Mercedes W196. |

The Ferrari 312B was gorgeous. Likewise Maserati 250F.

Lots of excellent cars already mentioned,I would add the Alfa 182 and the Williams FW12 if aesthetics are more significant than results.Sauber also tend to produce a nice looking car, when the rules don't make it nearly impossible.

If we're talking looks, then I have a soft spot for the Talbot-Lago of the 40s/50s. It may have been a bit of a truck, but it looked the epitome of a front-engined racer. Ditto the Alfa Romeo 159

Jordan 191, Curvy with great colours
I was always quite keen on the simplicity and clean lines of the Brabham BT54. Last edited by b1ackcr0w; 28 Aug 2012 at 20:48. |

You are right Miatanut, this thread is useless without pictures.
(Some of us however do not get to post pictures. DIG!) Like all the cars you posted, except for the 6 wheel Tyrrell 34, loved the concept, but, thought it was ugly! |
