Canadian GP Accommodation

I'm trying to find out how to book accommodation at McGill University in Montreal for the GP weekend. Anybody have any contact details please or a rough idea of costs?

http://www.mcgill.ca/students/housing/summer

as you may know, many moons ago I used the old McGill facilities, they upped their prices for the GP weekend and it was busy with a lot of young USAmericans.

quick check of the above link, prices double for GP weekend , minimum 3 nights - seen Canadian $130 per night for a double/twin room.

Edit, that price is for RVC which is on the corner of Sherbrooke and University, right next to McGill Metro stop.
Could'nt really get more central than that.

A2K?
just checked booking.com
If I had the free time would be very interested in doing Montreal again at that sort of price. Mrs B enjoyed Montreal when we holidayed there outside of GP week and would go back at the drop of a proverbial.

McGill are indeed inflating prices for the GP week. The backpackers website is showing no availability.

The flights prices have gone up a lot. When I went 5 years ago it I paid £292 return, I looked into going back this year and it's nearly £600

Mark,

Is that for a direct flight? The year I went with BS we flew into Newark and then onto Montreal (Not without problems but they were weather related)

Al can you remember the cost cos I can't!

I was about £500 for a flight from Glasgow to Toronto, then about £100 for a flight from Toronto to Montreal. I booked that back in November though.

Accommodation was about £265 for seven nights, it's in a hostel though (private room).

Martin,
Cheapest I've got so far is £582 from Manchester to Montreal via Newark on way out & via Brussels on the return.
This only has a connection time of 55 mins on return which I don't think is feasible!

Should be plenty of time. Assuming it's the same airline or a code share for both flights your baggage will be checked through so there's no worries about baggage reclaim/check in, so it's more or less a case of walking straight from your arrival gate to your departure gate.

See Paris Montreal Paris for £465 on Opodo

Two problems with that. Firstly, you can't check your baggage through to your final destination. Secondly & most importantly, if your first flight is delayed & you miss your connection you will be counted as a "no show" for your second flight - book it as one flight & you'll automatically be rebooked onto the next available flight. There could also be a problem with baggage allowances, particularly if one of your flights is a domestic flight.

www.kayak.com will do the monitoring for you

matrix.itasoftware.com will give you cheapest routing options if you choose that option

you should book directly with the airline though
