It was an excellent championship last year which we very much enjoyed being part of.

Really looking forward to seeing how things pan out this year. Wishing it all the best!

Great to see Kelvin taking on so many series. Like Martin Donnelly he was a driver I always admired and nice to see him involved in management.

How good is his team at the moment?

It's a new team for 2013, but I see he played a major role at MGR in the last few seasons (in 2012 Josh Webster was 2nd in the points, David Wagner 4th, and Matt Mason took 3rd in the Winter Series).

I agree with you, great to see him still involved in the sport. One of a number of big talents who never got the breaks to progress in single seaters.

Thanks Jon, apologies I could've sworn I saw his team name somewhere last year, but I suspect it was as you have kindly advised, his involvement elsehwere.

OT@ Mind you last night I thought I dreamt that our son had come into out room whilst we were asleep screaming his head off. He actually did! I must be in some weird parallel universe at the moment!

I don't see why not. There is hardly high security at these type of events. It is only a test day afterall. The obvious thing is that you are an invited guest of one of the teams or drivers involved. Send me a private message with some details if you need help.

I wouldn't expect too much from young Fitipaldi just yet. He still has a lot to learn though he is running in the exact same car that won the championship last season.

Menchaca, Midllehurst & Baptista as 2nd year drivers should all be strong along with Cook.

one thing that the list you gave shows that i think gets overlooked in all these series vs series handbag threads is the sheer number of young foreign drivers who continue to come to the uk to learn their craft.

that's something to be proud of, surely?

Sure, drivers don't necessary care if they're racing on F1 tracks

It is. And I think it has a lot to do with F1 being basically based here historically.

If that ever goes, if the UKIP nutters turn us into an isolated offshore island again for example, then things may change quite fast in that respect.

It was a great opening two races at Donington yesterday, despite the slight breeze! Some really close racing at the front and down the field, as well as a couple of incidents. Seeing the leaders three wide down the start/finish straight was excellent.

Good debut wins for Chris Middlehurst and Jorge Cevallos. Felt a bit sorry for Joe Ghanem though, who led most of race 1, then was shuffled out of a podium place in race 2.

Lots of pictures, reports, results and video on the championship facebook page. https://www.facebook.com/pages/Proty...ref=ts&fref=ts

A good weekends racing, with wins for Chris Middlehurst and Sam MacLeod.
Also some good drives from Weiron Tan, Jake cook and Pietro Fittipaldi, amongst others.
It was very good to see SWB motorsport back in the series too.

response too Easton Neston

Interesting that you congratulate Middlehurst on a win when there is much talk amongst the teams about a wrong floor I believe???
Jake Cook put in a sterling effort and it should be an interesting next round

An Interesting weekend at Thruxton, where Chris Middlehurst qualified for pole for all 3 races, and then converted those pole positions to wins.
Jake Cook qualified 2nd for all 3 races and had two good podium finishes. there were also good drives by Hung Wei Cao, Weiron Tan & Jorge Cavellos, among others.
What was very disappointing was the poor driving standards from some of the drivers, one of whom was excluded for causing an accident after the finish of race 3.

I thought Tan was outstanding for someone with so little car racing experience.

It seems that following his disqualifications at the last two race meetings, and some offensive, possibly libellous tweets, Ivan Taranov has had his license suspended & he will be missing the next round of the series at Croft. Possibly longer too.

Up to 19 cars entered for the fourth meeting of the season at Croft this weekend, with CDR returning to the series with a new driver.
