Donington Park
Why is the GP circuit at Donington always considered "artificial" or "not fitting the track"??? I think it adds a great touch to the track, makes it the ultimate challenge, especially because you have to set up a car for it, and also deal with the rest of the track. Besides, it also adds a passing point! I don't see why nobody likes it!

I like the GP circuit. Donington is one of my favourite circuits, but without the GP loop it's little more than a square, with a bit of a shimy required down the Craner Curves. The short cut should be permanantly closed off.

I think people's problem's is that when the loop was introduced in 1985, it was totally different to the rest of the track. The craner curves, old hairpin up through Macleans and Coppess is all flowing, then there were the hard stops at Fogarty's chicane and the Melbourne Hairpin (whats the deal with the name, Melbourne Hairpin, and the beer bottle inside it), people just thought it changed the character of the track.
I must say i quite like the "car park" section, as Fogarty calls it, it allows to passing areas and as Radisichrox says, requires careful setups. |

I agree that it is flowing, but pop in John Cleland if you have the BTCC In-Car experience videos or the 1994 BTCC review on tape. Watch him at Donington and see how smooth he his, even on the hairpins and the chicane. Then watch Paul Radisich force his overweight Ford around the track, and see the difference.
