Number Juan has a lot of promise if they can keep it on the circuit!
wow!

whilst waiting for my bus in the town centre - amongst the huge queue for the traffic lights the other side of the road, sat a...FERRARI F40!!! i was totally drooling grinning like a cheshire cat!

it was a lot smaller than i thought it would be but it has an utterly roaring engine and huge wheels! the guy in the car saw me staring at it in envy so when the lights went green, he left a big gap between himself and the car in front of him and then dropped the clutch and put some huge tyre marks in the middle of the road!!!

looks like it has absolutely rock solid suspension and very low to the ground of course!!!

I don't think I'll mention I spent 5 days watching one on the Grand Prix rally back in February, including a high speed flying 1/8th mile

Pop down to your local circuit one day and watch the Pirelli Maranello Ferrari Challenge (pronunciation not to be attempted by Jonathan Ross or lisping paddock announcers...) and it'll soon cure you of your fascination Last time we saw them at Snetterton there wasn't a single overtaking manouvre, and the Minis on afterwards totally upstaged them

Then there was the 550 Maranello, the 360 Spider, the Porsche GT2s, GT3s, Turbos, Nissan GT-Rs and a miriad of others. But as I said before, I won't mention it.

I followed an F50 through Harrow a while back- nice!
Most of us will never get to enjoy them from the inside (I had a ride in a 550 last year ) but it's great to be able to enjoy them from the outside- it's free after all!!

i saw a GT40 once, my mate's dad was fixing it up and it was an original...wow! my mate sat in it, revved it to the max a few times - i think my ear drums must have perforated! i didnt get to sit in it as we had to leg it. his dad was not amused by my mate's antics.

i cant remember much of it because we were quite tipsy at the time but what i do remember of it, it was a hell of a car.

i heard they do remakes of the old GT40 - like kit-car stuff, is this true?

There are a few replicas about- the best being the GTD40 from GT Developements.
A friend of mine built one from bits and pieces of several kits and put in a Chevy 5.7l V8. The car looked great and sounded the part too! It wasn;t clean and shiney like all the other replicas but I think that made it look authentic. He used it as his daily commuting car whereas most of the GT40 replica owners club take their cars to shows on trailers.
If your considering spending that much on a kit, why not go for an origonal design rather than a replica? and get out and drive it!!!
