SJ Spode should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Predictions: 2002 World Rally Champion

With four of the 14 WRC rounds already in the book, who do you think is going to end up as Champion this year?

Panizzi?
Gronholm?
Burns?
Colin McRae?
Makinen?
Sainz?

Or one of the others perhaps????

I would like to say Makinen but those Pugs look hard to beat so i would say Gronholm or Burns

At the start of the season I would have said Tommi Makinen.

Now I would go for Marcus Gronholm.

Harri Rovenpara. You will see when they get back on the gravel!

Him or Gronholm.

I've got to agree with hakkiman totally. At this point, Marcus is in the best position, with the remaining rounds, to win the championship. Tommi's DNFs have given him too much of an uphill battle, unless equally bad luck befalls the rest of the top competitors.

Bearing in mind that Burns won the title with 44pts last year, you'd say that both Gronholm and Panizzi are well placed already (two more wins in Germany and San Remo would see Gilles on 40pts at least).

Saying that I think that Gronholm and Burns are the two most likely to be fighting it out come year end. It's interesting though that with nearly 30% of the Championship already gone we haven't had a true gravel event, so I'm hoping that Tommi and Colin can get it on & climb up the table once the cars on on the rough stuff.

Still think it will be a Peugeot title though.

Will Panizzi get to drive on gravel, then?

Yes, but in the semi-works 206 that he shares with Harri when the rallies are not on their favoured surface.

I can't see anyone beating Gronholm this year, unless the Peugeot reliability hits problems. I think Burns may get close, but Gronholm's experience in the 206 will count in the remainder of the season.

McRae and Makinen are not finished, Sainz always seems to be there, but its between Burns and Gronholm now.
I give it to Gronholm

It will be a battle of Peugeot teammates of Burns and Gronholm. Marcus will come out on top. He motivated this year.

It would be wonderful to see Panizzi win it.

But it will most likely come down to Gronholm and Burns, with perhaps McRae and Makinen as outsiders.

But I am surprised no-one has mentioned Carlos.....

I think Colin McRae will get it this year because the Focus is much better on gravel than it is on tarmac. If not him, then it's really too close to call between the Peugeots and Subarus.
