Da Matta dominates....

Man, da Matta just ruled out there...

1-2 for Newman-Haas (first since Elkhart'99 I think)

Carpentier was fast, would be on the podium if not for that spin

Townsend's first points, although he only seemed to go fast in the end of the race

Green's day was disastrous...

And Oriol was just watching, again.

A good race I thought. da Matta was just too good, Newman Haas cars were class of the field, Fittipaldi had his best showing for as long as I can remember.

I can't say I was too unhappy to see Carpentier slide off as it put Bruno back up to 4th. Patrick was pushing his luck a bit with that passing move earlier in the race. I don't know but Bruno seemed a bit lacklustre to me today, I was disappointed. Hope he can get that sparkle back for next weekends race in Portland.

Patrick did a good pass... not like the Franchitti-Moore affair in 1999...

Did you also see Andretti passing Papis on the Corkscrew? that was spectacular!

Yes but Micheal was on the edge, wich always scary me. Remenber Ricardo Rodriguez in this corner.

That'd be Gonzalo Rodgriguez. Seemed like a terrific race though- 19 cars putting on twice the show NASCAR can manage with twice the field

Well, Zanardi was over the edge in 1996...

Now that Gonzalo was mentioned, it's nice to see how the run-off at the corkscrew has changed...

I thoroughly belive Zanardi was in control in 1996. He ran a bit wide but had it under control. There was nothing Herta could do about it. This year Papis had to lift and move over because Andretti was about to take them both out.

I was much more impressed with Carpentier's move.

Da Matta's dominance on road courses has been scary this year. Someone's going to have to find a way of beating him. I don't think it's going to be easy though.

Kanaan just has no luck, does he?

SOMEONE GIVE ORIOL A DRIVE!

This was da Matta's day. He could consistently pull away from everybody. NewmanHaas sure seems to have the road courses figured out.

I'm surprised that Papis was checking his mirrors as he was navigating the corkscrew. He must have been suspicious of Andretti trying a bonzai, and its a good thing he was or they both would have been taken out. Everything turned out okay, and I guess the end justifies the means. Because it worked, it was a brilliant move. Had it not, it would have been brainfade.

Carpentier's pass was equally impressive. Too bad about his spin, as he was pretty quick all day.

Along with the first-lap melee and Tracy's wheelnut, those two passes were about the only highlights from an otherwise uneventful race. I say "uneventful" so as to avoid saying "boring". By the late stages, the cars were becoming quite separated. For instance, when Carpentier spun, he only lost 2 positions. Oh well, it was still enjoyable, and they can't all be edge-of-your-seat.

Toyota captures 6 of the top 7 positions, including their first sweep of the podium.
