Former CART champion Alex Zanardi is likely to return to the series in 2001, according to former engineer Morris Nunn.

Morris Nunn called the Italian at his Monaco home last weekend and asked him whether he would substitute for injured driver Tony Kanaan in the CART series. Zanardi replied that he was interested, but wants extensive testing before making a return to the series. "I think he's almost itching to come back," said Nunn. "I think he'll come back but he wants to come back properly and do it right."


Z man was one of the most popular drivers to ever race in CART.
His move around Herta at the Laguna Seca corkscrew was an all-time mind blower.
His return would be huge, as Juan-Pablo will soon be gone.

Maybe Alex could bring some of the excitement back to Cart.
