Tony renna made his IRl debut at Nashville in the car formerly driven by Al Unser Jnr (who has of course admitted himself to a rehab centre) Im not quite sure where renna qualified but he certainly turned on an impressive show during the race , he lead for several laps and was in with a good chance of perhaps taking the win or getting a very good placing until of course his first ever pitstop in motorsport.
having come up through the junior ranks which have considerably shorter races where pitstops are not needed , this became the first time he had made a racing pitstop and everything seemed to go fine during the stop and even after he had left but the trouble came when he reached the end of the pitlane speedlimit zone and he turned off the limiter and gassed it up only to send himself spinning , I think he was very lucky not to be collected by anyone else exiting pitlane at the time.
unfortunately he lost 2 or 3 laps because of this and he simply proved the fact that he was a complete rookieand made the classic rookies mistake.
he rejoined the race and again showed some good speed for the remainder of the event but was too many laps down to make any real impact.
but despite this one little but very costly mistake Tony Renna performed excellently and fully justified hs right to be in the IRL.

Im not to sure on how long Al Jnr will be out of the seat and how many more races Renna will get but Im sure after this weekend alone he will have a few team owners knocking on his door for future rides.

Thanks for the recap, marcus. I couldn't watch the race. One thing's for sure about the IRL... their TV package sucks if you live in Canada.
