BTCC teams budget 95-98

I was thinking about budgets. Look at F1, there Toyota, Ferrari, Williams and McLaren have the largest budgest...

During the 95-98 BTCC years, how did the budgets differ between the teams? Which had the biggest or smallest etc... Does any one have any figures on this?

I recall hearing BTCC budgets were around 5-15M pounds?? I think Nissan had one of the larger budgets? With Ford spending the most in 2000.

Ford spent the most (£10m) in 2000, and strangely enough they won the title...wonder why...

Out of the teams budgets from 95-98 I'd have said they'd all have been fairly even, cars like the Vectra didn't seem too good but I believe this was because the aero kit was homologated for the very different circuits of Europe. But saying that, probably Audi, Volvo, Renault and Honda had the largest budgets in those years, but that's my guess!

Surely it must have been Audi??? They raced in SEVEN championships in '96? Or was it '97? OTOH, I guess b/c they raced in so many championships, they could afford gather a lot of data for car development?
