We are disappointed for Oriol's DNF as he was definetely going to be in the top 5. Thankfully Vasser and Carpentier saved the day. By the way, I'm depressed. |

WOOOHOOO!!!
Pineapple Racing had their most successful race ever in today's Motorola 220 at Road America. Tony Kanaan started the race in last position after not posting a time in final qualifying. On Friday, his rear wing snapped off at 192mph, sending him into a high speed crash. On saturday, Tony's Honda engine failed in qualfying, and when he attempted to get the spare car going, the oil pump failed. Kanaan vented his anger on Saturday night by removing all valuables from his Pineapple garage and torching it. However, Tony's race on Sunday was simply awesome, resulting in a 4th place finish. "I made a great start today and passed a heap of cars. Then I punted off Andretti. It was a pretty good hit. The guys came over the radio and said that I had done a good job on Michael, and that they were very proud of me," said Kanaan. "And we were pretty quick. We ran fast times all day, and I was able to pass guys. I drove it like it was stolen. That's how you have to drive these Pineapple cars, because they are going to break eventually. You have to finish the race as quick as possible to beat the car." Teammate, Oriol Servia was one of the stars of the race. Starting from 9th, the Catalan dropped to 11th on the start. However, his sheer speed and aggression saw him fight his way to 6th. His race included, the best pass of the race when he passed Dario Franchitti on the outside at turn 1. "It was a good race," said Servia. "Unfortunately the car didn't pick up the last gallon of fuel. Well, that's what the team told me. I wouldn't be surprised if they just forgot to tell me to come into the pits." "We had a rocketship out there today. When we pulled out, we had the fastest lap of the race. And I stuck it to Franchitti, didn't I?" Canadian, Alex Tagliani recorded Pineapple's 3rd podium and 2nd runners-up position for the season. It was also Tagliani's 1st podium for the team. Starting 3rd, Tags ran a strong race all day to finish 2nd. "I had fun out there today," said Tagliani. "For most of the race I was fighting Paul and the Target cars, and at the end I was fighting with daMatta and Bruno. I was trying to catch Cristiano, but he just had too much. I just wanna win one of these things!!" Pineapple Racing are very excited that they have moved 6 places from the bottom of the ladder. "I reckon we can win this league," said team owner, mac. "We are only 160 points behind. We're coming back!" Pineapple Racing head to Montreal for the next race of the CART series P. Dribbler Chief Media Liason Officer Pineapple Racing |

The team are disappointed to see Dario retire for the 4th time in 5 races, but are happy to have Patrick finish the race. Driver quotes: Dario: "The car had oversteer from the start and we had to wait until the first stops to try and sort the car out. After the first round of stops, the car had a good balance and I was confident of making progress towards the front. Sadly something in the engine went pop and put us out. Now have to focus on Montreal and better luck. As we won last time out in Canada at Vancouver." Patrick: "The car wasn't fantastic all weekend, unlike at Mid-Ohio. The race was ok, but it was mainly a case of waiting for people tom retire ahead of us to get a decent finish. I hope for better luck back home in Canada, at Montreal." PRESS RELEASE
21/8/02 DBR Move Into Second Position Another fantastic result for DBR International, with all three drivers finishing the race, with another magnificent victory for Cristiano da Matta, his 6th of the season, with Carpentier finishing in 7th and Jourdain in 9th. The team has consistently finished in the top 10 this season and we would like to just thank all our drivers, team personnel and sponsors for their efforts this year. The drive from da Matta was another case of 'See you later, alligator' as he cleared off into the distance. The Brazilian re-asserted his authority on the CART championship and his title challenge is now seriously back on track after three lacklustre rounds. Patrick Carpentier had another miserable weekend, particularly in qualifying, but a steady race pace saw him slowly claw his way up into the top 10, and eventually finished a fine seventh. Jourdain continues to struggle in qualifying, but his finishing rate is outstanding, finishing every race for the team so far in the points. Here's looking forward to Montreal Sumjurc Ramdmicar Press Officer |

Dawn Racing are not able to find their score in the Road America standings. This may be a good thing though, as we frequently seem to score minus points. Team principal mr. R is however convinced that our total score has gone significantly up since the last race, and is very keen to find out how we scored at Road America.
