The long Trek to mecca

well , we've all probably done it at least once before in our lives , packed the car up grabbed either the family or a few mates and set off up the highway to bathurst on a non race weekend.

Ive done it quite a few times and in about an hours time Im doing it all again , just for something to do , Ive got my new car and we decided we should see how it goes on a long run , so weve packed the car loaded the family up and we are heading for the Bathurst hills.

so I will catch yas later when I get back in the next few days after i go and pay homagge to the greatest race track on earth

Hehe, that's the spirit!

I know I'll often do silly things like drive people down the coast so I can do a few laps of the Indy track, or go up to Strathpine to have a cruise down Spitfire Drive...

Did you stop anywhere and pick up some souveniers from the 24hr? There'd have to be some car parts lying around the track somewhere...

I 1994, when I was in Sydney for a week visiting my sister, Dad and i made a day trip out of visiting the museum and doing 1 or 2 or 12 laps of the circuit. We took Dad's VN HSV Berlina, so it was a rather enjoyable trip.

Until last October, it was the only tome i had driven on the circuit. Oh boy, i have to go back!!!!

I've been looking for a place to take the Turbo when it arrives. Why not Mount P has a lounge room - and a fridge.

But it wouldn't work that - now would it. When you were pulled over the cop would see you behind the wheel - but a good looking fella's picture on the licence!

The magic trick with the licence is to get one in foreign parts, and if the officer wants to see your licence, show him a Kiwi or UK version.... you get a fine but points cant come off something in a different jurisdiction, now can they

Not that I am condoning speed of course, but the car has to be run in somehow now doesnt it...

The fixed speed camera near me is broken, it takes shots of cars doing under the speed limit. The drivers dont seem to be getting fines ( I was snapped twice doing <50km/h in a 70 km/h zone because of traffic and I havent got a ticket, despite being flashed) but is this the new way to scare motorists into slowing down... faking a catch??

Sounds like something kids used to do with the flash unit of an SLR camera... not that I would know anything about that of course
