Magna to V8's
In the latest Auto Action there is a story saying saying that a V8 magna might be racing in the championship in the next year. It also said that they have been confronted by many teams that they would be happy to race their car?

I know of a very very heavy hitter who put a proper proposal to Mitsubishi, who were seriously keen, just not yet.
The dollars were telephone number like, which werent necessarily baulked at, and should the Magna be approved for racing, there would be a works team operating out of Adelaide in the blink of an eye. |

The numbers quoted were 6-8 million .Big dollars, especially for a company that was nearly bust last year.

What would be your contingency plan. Surely not to shift your support to this Japanese monster? |

Considering how much success they had back then, would that be such a good idea? |

I really wonder how easy this is going to be to happen. Maybe AVESCO has cornered itself and Future Tourers will have something to say about it all. Don't they have the Magna as and approved car in their class.

I think Terry Bosnjak builds and/or drives them in the Future Tourers.
Didnt he run in the 24hrs at Bathurst If the Magna was allowed to race, What engine would it use ? Is Mitsubishi connected in anyway to Mopar ? they produce a block and heads for sprint cars so thats a possibility. Does Mitsubishi has a V8 of their own ? but even if they did Im not sure letting a OHC type motor in is a good idea unless all 3 makes can use a OHC motor, Ford has 1 but does Holden/Chevy ? We have seen the parity arguments before but I reckon it will be something special if they let an OHCammer in. Maybe the addition of (if it happens) Mitsubishi can start a process of bringing the Car Engines into the 21st Century, not that I have anything against the OHV engines (notice Im not using low-tech or high-tech) but if they were to allow OHC type engines maybe it would look more appealing to other manufacturers. |

GTR, any blind Freddie can see who it is you are talking about. I guess he must be looking for something to do.

Does Mitsubishi have a V8 of their own? - No, but DaimlerChrysler do.
Do Holden have a V8 of their own? - No, but GM do. What's the problem? GM have an OHC engine in DTM and could use it if they wished..... but then they might have to let BMW, Audi and Nissan use OHC too, so it suits Ford and GM to insist on pushrods..... cause they remember what happened the last time BMW and particularly Nissan raced in aussie touring cars. the car that bosinjack runs, comes out of the mitsi factory
it was a 4sp 3.0 old model hack car that was refurbished to the latest body spec for him (he he I helped) they must of then put in the holden motor and roll cage etc for it and Yes the top brass at Mitsi's keep a close eye on its results (they like to help out without being obvious, like chadwick being sponsored by Mitsi electric) yes dodge do have a 5'0 pushrodder that would fit in nicely esp in the awd body |
