Oeschersleben
well, Bobbi and Biagi are champions, but I think JC-W and Alliot have a bit of talking to do... JC-W claims it was a racing incident and anyhow Alliot had been holding him up for two laps while he was trying to lap him.....
(their cars touched and the Alliot Viper was nearly destroyed) promoting the (blue) Creation Lister to 3rd... well done! Last edited by Osella; 21 Sep 2003 at 12:33. |

Big drama at Oeschersleben!
ALLIOT (after waving his finger at Campbell-Walter's car): "It's totally unacceptable. He tries to pass me. I let him pass me in the straight and at 260km/h he cuts me off, it's totally unacceptable. It's suicidal. I hope they take away his license. I could have hurt myself very badly. QUESTION: Are you going to ask for the judges for a sanction? ALLIOT: What for. The damage is done. The only thing I'm going to do is go put my fist in his face."
CAMPBELL-WALTER: "I actually had two accidents with him... one at the start - I presume it was Philippe - and the other. It's very unfortunate to have an accident like that. When he finally let me pass, I thought I was past him and there was a lot of debris on the track and I moved aside to avoid a puncture and I didn't know about the accident until the following lap, but as far as I'm concerned he should have let me pass two laps earlier." |

yea, that was a very bad move by JCW. but the good thing is that Alloit is ok.
I am kinda upset, that the Konrad Saleen didnt finish on the podium. They had a wheel nut come loose (again!, has happened to the same left ft. tyre in alms races last year, and this is like the 3rd time it happened in the fia gt) if they didnt have that problem, im sure they would have finished at least 3rd. 6th isnt that bad, but considering that they led more than half the race, it isnt a great finish. |

So again bad luck for the Hezemans/Kumpen viper.

The JCW/Alliot drama is a surprising story... as a french supporter, I have to precise that Alliot seems not very appreciate in France, not very 'fair' and 'gentleman'...
As far, he seems not to be responsible of the wreckage... Any other opinion about the case ? Did JCW (as I don't support much more, I have to admit too ! ) deserve the DQ ? I'm really disappointed by the Konrad's Saleen result, and more by the DQ of the car... aggressive behind the pace-car ? What's this ? Any precisions ? Last edited by Fab; 22 Sep 2003 at 16:00. |

Why didn't they gave Konrad a stop-and-go penalty? DQ is very hard punishment.

i know, a stop-go would have been ok. they probably would have finished 6th anyways (would have been 5th, with the dq of jcw)

Watch the highlights and judge for yourself. I personally thought it looked pretty ridiculous and certainly think JCW should be DQ'ed. His comment that he only noticed that Alliot had crashed a lap later is laughable. He clipped Alliot's car, and if he didn't notice that, he definitely would have seen the Viper explode into a ball of flames and schrapnel right behind him. If somehow he *didn't* see the explosion (chatting on his cell phone maybe?), I'm fairly certain his crew would have told him that he had just punted another car causing a full-course caution... JCW seems like an OK guy, but sometimes he says and does things that make no sense whatsoever. Last edited by Burd; 22 Sep 2003 at 02:23. |

I've looked ten times at the video of the crash on the eurosport.fr website. And I saw no "debris" on the track, although it's the reason JCW for his sudden move on the straight line... Even though Alliot's reputation is effectively not to be the fairest driver in the world and even though he might have blocked JCW's car for a good time under blue flag, there's no excuse for such a bad action. Even for his own live, it could have been dangerous.
Let's remember too that during the Spa 24Hrs this year, Bas Leinders has been fired from the team for "unsecure driving"... None of this for JCW off course !! |

I watched the highlights on Eurosport yesterday evening, after posting, and I'm definitely with you on that case : I saw nothing on the track before JCW changed his line, and he drove on the debris the last laps of the race without trying to dodge them...
There's not a lot of excuses for JCW... The crash was very impressive, BTW... |

Does anyone have precisions about the Saleen's disqualification ? What did really happen behind this pace-car ? I don't grasp what "aggressive driving" exactly means in such a case...

JCW did a stupid mistake .. but i don't think he intended to hit Alliot .. but you've got to pay for your mistakes ... and JCW . don't do that again ..

Not intended to hit ??? What did he intend to than ? Say hello to his pit crew ??
When you drive a top contender car in a World championship, you are supposed to be responsible for the consequences of your acts. JCW just behaved like a rookie in its first season in Formula 3... This is FIA GT not a Destruction Derby ! |

I have only seen the clip on Eurosport.com, but if it was deliberate then he has no place on the race track

Having just watched the clip a few times, I can't see why Lister are even considering appealing, (other than because it seems to be standard practice these days to appeal any disqualification...)- from the few second of footage I've jsut seen, that was a seriously stupid piece of driving by JC-W.....
