The times posted above were from the morning session when drivers ran on a new set of tyres each, ie. one super-fast lap before they start to lose their edge. James, I understand, was up on Piquet on the telemetry, but made an error near the end of his lap which dropped him back.
This afternoon, when everyone ran worn tyres, James apparently set the second fastest time overall behind Rosberg. |

Apologies: these are the times I was relating to, not the first lot you posted when Doornbos, I thought, did an excellent job.

Why are they testing?? Particularly Piquet. I read the other thread, but surely he isn't going to do F3000?

The other thread explains why Piquet is testing. The other drivers are testing to convince teams top give them drives next season.

in a pointless formula? i think it's got to just be a profile raising exercise in most people's cases.

Did Doornbos and Piquet only test one day each for Arden? And was this first time for them in an F3000? Although Arden are the championship winning team, that's pretty impressive by both of them.
Is it right then that F3000 is going to undergo a makeover and become F2 next year? If so, where will Renault V6 fit in - they are really good cars, more so with the power hoik that is promised for next year. |

What I understand is that F3000 will become F2 in 2005 and Renault will supply the engines. So I think 2005 will the end for Formula Renault V6. Last edited by FIRE; 8 Nov 2003 at 20:04. |

Well like I said, why not have V6 become F3000? A few more Hp and a softer tire. Away you go

Though it might be easier and make more sense to convert over Formula Nissan

I understood V6 is about to get a nice power boost for next year - do you know where do they see it being positioned then? They (the Regie) seem to be pushing V6 still. Will it be vastly different from 2005 F3000/F2? If not then one of them will surely go, but which?

On their site renault-sport.com there's an article of them comitting to 2004 and 2005 at least
Also a note about the new F2000 car. Looking forward to see what the physical changes are like |

They should make them much lighter! Although this would send prices rocketing and possibly endanger safety.

There is a V6 test on Dec 3rd for Messrs Hamilton, Lloyd and Rossiter as a reward for the FRenault top 3. I understand that Lewis won't be allowed to drive the Renault, but Alex and James should hopefully get a decent run. It will be interesting to see which team they run with, and whether it will be in the 2004 spec - uprated engine and single tail exhaust, I believe?
Were there any others testing F3000 at Jerez, or just those eight? |

Won't Hamilton, Lloyd and Rossiter come into Formula 3 next year? I thought they would! Give some more competion for piquet and viso! So there would be a bigger battle!
Man i can't wait for next year! |
