18 year old to drive at Bathurst!!
I think it's amazing that Tom Shrimpton is going to race at Bathurst and he will have only just turned 18.
Can you imagine the note he is going to give to his headmaster - sorry but I won't be able to attend school next week as I will be in Australia racing (and beating) people twice my age in a Morgan. Good luck to him |

Good luck to him from me as well. I think its great to be seeing teenagers involved in sportscar racing. Any teams wanna hire a 16 year old?

I like the idea, its romantic to think the Morgan can come to Bathurst and conquer the mountain... hope he does well, stays out of trouble, gets faster as the event goes on and bring it home...

What a dream for an 18 year old, he gets to drive a Morgan around one of the world's premier tracks. I hope he does a good job & gets a great result in the Morgan.

Happy Birthday and good luck |

The Morgan should be quite a dark horse at the Mountain come 2pm November 23

Well it looks like he'll have to qualify first, as they have 66 entries for the 55 grid spots for the Bathurst 24hr race!!

Unfortunatly the car was plagued by coolant problems early on and retired during the first hours of the race. It looked and sounded great while out there though.
Specail mention to Martin Short in the Mosler as well. HE had a go at the Monaro's early, then backed off, and despite some troubles, ended up a great fifth, even after a slight encounter with a backmarker in the wet during the night. A great effort Set some very competitive lap times as well, and had the fastestest lasp of the race until Garth Tander went quicker with 3 laps to go. |

what a bummer for the team - I believe the engine went at 6 hours. I hope they all enjoyed themselves whilst out there and I am sure we will be seeing more of these two in years to come.
Nice finish for Martin Short and co after all their problems medical and otherwise and for Liz Halliday. |

The Morgan is one of the best looking cars i've ever seen & one of the best sounding too, you could hear it coming a fair way before you saw it & it's just a shame that it was plagued by problems during the race.
