Nissan 350Z ready for JGTC!!

Nissan will race the 350Z in the GT500 class in JGTC, replacing the Skyline. It looks really cool!

But didn't it race in the GT300 class this year?

The GT500 car will be more prototype than road car.

Nice. Too bad we can't get one of these approved by the ACO, and a budget behind it.

Wouldn't that be a good way of attracting the big Japanese marques back to LM?

Read Autosport from a few weeks back, and you will see an interview with Stephan Ratel. In it he says that the FIA and ACO want to attract manufactuers into the GTS class, even if they do not have a suitable 'supercar' to enter.

They are therefore looking into allowing 'regular' mass produced sportscars, such as the 350Z and BMW 6 series, into GTS.

These cars would then be allowed extensive modifications to make them competitive against the 'Supercars' (Maserati, Saleen, Zonda etc.), and the standard GTS cars (Viper, C5-R, 550/575 etc.).

Should be interesting to see what they come up with.

They still have the 'club le mans' button on their site. Does someone speak Japanese?

BTW, great name for one of the four cars "G'ZOX?SSR?Z"!

They did about 2 years ago. It was called the Z33GT(I think). It was built to the ACO GT/FIA NGT reg's. 430hp, 2450lbs $333,000us. However from what one of the Nissan GA Cup teams said was that Nissan wasn't willing to give enough support to the teams to make the car a viable choice against the 911's and 360GT's even in the Rolex series...

Last i heard the program was scrapped, except for the factory JGTC gt300 car...

I'm glad Krumm will again be with the team. I always thought he never got the opportunities he deserved. He got a CART ride in 1999 I think and the team went bust and he finished runner up in Formula Nippon at least twice and never got picked up by an F1 team. Last year, winning the JGTC title I was so pleased for him and even Audi ran him in the 3rd car at Le Mans last year so he must be starting to get noticed, I hope this guy will run permanently in Europe in the near future.

It seems, that JGTC wants to go more overseas this season, they already have one race on Sepang, Malaysia and now there's negotiations for the races on Shanghai, South Korea and California, USA (Laguna Seca?) on THIS season.

does the rear of that car bug anybody else besides me. It looks too large to be effective. The front is fine. I love that paint job.

Just for fun : Carlos Gohsn (Goshn ?), Nissan Chairman, drives daily a... Porsche, as a company car !

Do we have to conclude that he doesn't believe in his own sport production ?

Disapointing...

Strange man! Not that nothing is wrong with a Porsche, just that he doesn't drive his own product
