Perhaps the original correspondent was suggesting it might be unwise to get into a business relationship with what I'm sure is a fine upstanding member of the international oil supplying fraternity, which in no way could be considered to be a bunch of cold war spivs who got lucky, and it is entirely coincidental that the head of the company was thrown into the nearest gulag when he got on the wrong side of a certain ex-KGB man turned politico, not to mention the entirley un-dubious surroundings of the helicopter chrash that recently did for the lawyer who was running things from the UK, who was not at all rumoured to have turned supergrass.
Alledgedly. [editted (Twice!) as ever for spelling] Last edited by Guy Humpage; 2 Jul 2004 at 07:33. |

I think the bottom line at the moment is that Yukos have been hit with a $3.4 billion tax bill and are threatened with ceasing oil production. They currently back the Freisinger team in FIA-GT and the LMES. This could have implications for the team for the rest of the season?
Drivers of these cars include, Maasen, Luhr, Ortelli and Collard, as well as the mainly Russian driven car. |

The 3.4 billion is a per year tax bill and so far the Russian equivalent of the fine and upstanding Inland revenue are already up to two year's worth of payments....
It does seem that the Russian Govt realises that putting the firm out of business would not be a very samrt thing... however one can't help but question the continued spending of sponsorship roubles... The plot thickens Mr Bond! John |

Looks bad for Yukos, they're facing bankruptcy as they might have to stop producing these days. Computers have been confiscated basicly bringing down the production.

Also, news today that Yukos have defaulted on a $1Bn bank loan.
Wouldn't like to see the interest figures on that... |

Not to rip "gentleman racing," but this kind of behavior (using company money to go racing) is what got Yukos and friends in trouble in the first place.
No I wouldn't expect that "sponsorship" to be survive for too long. |
