Michael Valiante
So valiante finally gets the call up to the Champcar World series.
A One off race in mexico. How will he go ? He is driving the Walker Reynard that besnard drove at Surfers , but will the Reynard be good in mexico ? Can he drive through the cars seemingly lack of performance? How will he fair against Haberfeld ? and is there any chance of him getting a fulltime gig in 05 ? I saw him do some races in Atlantics a few years back and he was quite impressive in them and appears to have plenty of natural speed , so whatever happens I wish him well. |

Last year Tiago Monteiro qualified 2nd for the race in a Reynard. So that shouldnt be a real problem I guess.

I'm sure he'll do fine, he's a useful driver who probably deserved a chance a while ago. As long as people don't expect miracles, he can match expectations.

I didn't realize Monteiro qualified in P2 last year! I tend to agree with Boots' post regarding his performance. That said, I'm hoping we see a performance like we saw when Lotterer was dropped into a car for the Mexico city race. I know that's not realistic.

The track appears to suit the Reynards, 5 of them qualified in the top 10 in 2003 (Monteiro, Hunter-Reay, Manning, Vasser and Luis Diaz). Snrub, Lotterer finished that race in 12th, the best reynard was Carpentier (4th). He can do a good job, that's for sure.

Lotterer was so impressive because he was dropped into a car and was putting in fastest laps throughout the race. I don't think he actually ended up with fast lap, but given his starting position he exceeded every expectation.
