History at school may have been boring but...
In the current age of Australian Touring Car Racing, we happen to be watching the sport under the guise of V8 Supercar. Holden and Ford under this present structure present Facvtory backed teams as a spearhead to their attack and commercial promotion for the series is an attempt to sell more cars. Holden Racing Team endured a fairly uneven beginning with the 1990 Bathurst win of Allan Grice/Win Percy being the only solid result for the operation until competitive results in the 1994 Bathurst 1000 and ATCC in that and subsequent years leading to the Lowndes/HRT whitewash that was the 1996 ATCC, Sandown 500 and bathurst 1000.
FPR has picked up two 2nd places at Bathurst in 2003 and 2004 as well as a round win at PI in the rain thanks to Lowndes' abilities and clever use of strategy. Any similarities in the growing pains of both in the early stages? |
