The first thing to note is that the Radicals compete in the Britsports series, rather than Britcar.

Britsports: Radicals, Junos, trackday specials, etc. The very fast sportscar stuff.

Goldarts (normally with Britsports): Westfields, Caterhams, etc.

Britcars: Think British GT type cars or ex-DTM machines. Faster + more exotic cars.

Production S1: Think ex-btcc, national saloons, one-make saloon championship cars.

Hope this helps,
Al.

There is no substitute for cubic inches : QED.

And Al - ex.BTCC would be in Britcar. Production S1 is more Gp.N stuff... To attack it with the file/spanners is to put it in Britcar.

Should be there later this season!

I think Alan means the Super Production class B cars that were in the BTCC 2001-03 - BMW 320, Ford Focus, Honda Integra, Renault Clio, that sort of thing.

Your right that SuperTourers and current BTC-Tourers would be in Britcar though.

do cars such as the old Atlanta Motorsports Renault Clio British GT car enter Britcar too? I like the thought of Britcar, but they need a few more GT cars for it to really interest me. I do like the idea of mixing them up with all sorts of other cars though. Sort of "championship for everyone" kinda theme. I'm also new to Britcar formats, not seen a race, I did hear some sort of rumour about the series having ideas in the future of racing at Cadwell Park. any truth in this?

Britcar is not racing at Cadwell, but Production S1 and Britsports will be, I think. Date is in October if I recall correctly.

Production S1 will be racing on the Nurburgring of the North later this year. Britcar and Britsports/Goldarts won't be going.

I note in the list that the entry fee does not include a pit garage at Cadwell. Hmmm have they built some then?

The Atlanta Motorsports Clio would be welcome.

Steve Hirst / Ric Wood ran in the ex-Alan Menu Opel Astra DTM car. An awesome bit of kit. Makes my old Thundersaloon Astra look like a Blundersaloon (very agricultural!)

I thought the package was travelling as a whole. Shame Britcar isn't at Cadwell as it's only 20 miles from me. But Cadwell needs a lot of work to get something like Britcar there.

Last time I went to Cadwell there were no pit garages, just a pit lane (which seems pointless at times). There isn't really room to build garages because the hill is in the way, at the top of which lies the hall bends. Hopefully they could find a way of creating such a feat without spoiling any of the track.

racing59, is the decision not to take Britsports to Cadwell a late one as it appeared on several published calendars? I've tried to look on www.eerc.co.uk but it is reasonably impenetrable.

The Silverstone programme shows S1 & Britsports at Cadwell on 30/9 & 1/10. S1 getting a 3 hour race and Britsports 90 minutes (probably 2 x 45mins). Britcar will be at Zolder the weekend before, 22 & 23/9.

Yep, my mishtake! Britsports are listed as going to Cadwell with the Production S1.

Mind you, looking at the Silverstone programme, I'd like to enter the Zolder race at the price published in there.... £475 for 3 hours. Man that's cheap.

It's looking like Zolder will be my first entry to Britcar.

What about the extra costs and time involved in getting everything over to Belgium and back. Does that bump it up a lot?

For me, the cost of running to Harwich, the ferry, and from Ostend to Zolder, actually works out cheaper than going to Oulton Park, Croft, or Pembrey. And is about on-par with going to Lydden. One good thing is running to Harwich on "fumes" and then filling up over there, and making sure it's full before I come home again! Ideally, I'd divert via Luxembourg to fill her up! Cheapest fuel in Europe!

Maybe James can put us right here, pitlane gossip at Silverstone said production S1 was also going to Zolder not Cadwell, hope so as i finish my holiday 2 days before the race in Belgium, good excuse to stay away for some extra time.

Martin, would I have to put an Italian name badge on the car?

I'll probably be re-badging it as an Opel to help our Continental friends understand what it is!

That's if I haven't broken it by then.

Mp I think you will find that if we still have spaces for zolder then Prod S1 will be invited to fill the spaces.

Saw the Dutch Super Cup or what ever it was on the box and noted how similar the Britcar/Prod'S1 is in comparison with the layout etc ie: classes. How about joining them and them joining us next year? How does the BELCAR series compare with the Dutch series in compatability I wonder?...I'm sure our man James has already looked into this already though! Also, I'm under the impression that Croix is available at a reasonable cost to race clubs...a lot cheaper than here anyway. How about something there though MP would know what its like racing there (in his nifty old 164) - would it suit long distance racing?

Thats no problem, I drove an Alfa 164 for a year with Lexus badges on it due to sponsorship by a Toyota dealership, made the car far more realiable lol.

Did you have to fit lots of non-descript leather-look grey plastic to the interior too? ;-)
