Aussie Without Answers
I have no Idea about Nascar except that they're sedans that go round oval tracks.
I'm not sure whether you will know this but the australian v8 Supercar champion Marcos Ambrose is racing in Nascar in 2006. He will apparently be racing in the busch class (or something along those lines!!!). I'm interested in knowing what exactly that is in terms of which Nascar events they attend and how the driver quality is compared to your top drivers. Please clear this up for me!!! |

The Busch Series has 35 events (this year) and basically go as a supporting act to the Nextel Cup in around two-thirds of their events. The series has headliners at tracks such as the Milwaukee Mile, Gateway and Mexico, to name but a few. The driver, or should it be said, team quality isn't as strong in Busch as it is in Cup. There are probably about 15 cars who are truly capable of winning, week after week.
In terms of the seat, Marcos could be going to, there are three realistic options in my view: 1. Roush, Yates, or any other entity could set up an all-new team for Marcos 2. Marcos could fill the #9 seat of Mark Martin; the #60 seat of Edwards, or, less likely, the #17 seat of Kenseth. 3. The #90 seat with Yates. |

I am more interested in how the drivers and NASCAR watchers think he will go in 2005.
Anyone from that side of the world have any inside Gossip. |

It was mentioned in another thread how the few Americans that have raced at bathurst have been flops, but it's the same kind of deal. You can't expect someone that doesn't know the tracks, cars or people(most important) to go out there and blow everyones doors off right out of the gate. I think this is the place where Ambrose will find himself, but if he really wants to learn and work hard, he can make it. I know he likes his home life too and he shouldn't find too much difficulty adjusting from county QLD to rural North Carolina. Feeling comfortable at home goes a long way towards a good life at work. The big change will be racing almost every weekend and the travel. I always hear V8 drivers complaining about their "commitments", well they don't have a clue. |
