Camera bags and such at the USGP?
I was wondering if those that have been there in the past could comment on the restrictions on camera bag sizes and such? I know they list 14x14x14 for coolers and backpacks, but they only seem to say that cameras and their cases are allowed. Do the same size restrictions apply to camera bags? I don't intend on having much stuff on me for raceday but more for practice days.
I made the mistake of getting a backpack style camera bag that I thought would be handy there, but it's outside the size limit for a backpack, most camera bags are longer than 14" so if the same size restrictions apply I will have to find a smaller camera bag as well it would seem. Are you allowed to bring in a small backpack and a camera bag or just one or the other as well? |

I always carry a back pack and a cooler as well. They will probably dig through the bag but they have always let me in. I have been there every year it has been in Indy. If you get in a fast moving lane then you won't have to hastle with the search, they are really pretty laid back. The biggest thing I see them bust is glass bottles.

This is suited to trackside. Also it may get a few Indy regulars' answers.

It would surprise me if you are not allowed in with your stuff based on what I've seen other folks walk in with - some people look like they are going to climb Everest. |

Like gringo said.....you should have no problems. You can even bring in your own "beer-verages" so long as they are aluminum or plastic. Keep your luggage within the size limitations and you're fine. Do expect to have to open up everything for inspection when entering the stands or other secured areas though.
