Rod Blackstone
Due to receive a Special Achievement for 50 years marshalling at the BRSCC SE Dinner-Dance last Saturday, Rod tragically was taken from us on Saturday morning.
Rod, flagging on post 24 (pits entrance) at Brands Hatch, was a permanent ficture, whether for a full International or just him and a course marshal at a clubbie. He was a mentor and trainer to many who have gone on to "higher" roles and will be sorely missed. Sincerest condolences to Rod's wife amd family, RIP old friend, Bryan |

That's very sad Bryan. Most of us who attend Brands knew Rod and I'm sure we'll all miss him.
RIP sir. |

I only marshalled with Rod once - at the Festival this year. A genuinely nice man with a great sense of humour. I'm desperately sorry to hear this. Please pass on our condolences.

I am sat here not really knowing what to say. Rod always had time to talk to you at signing on or recall tales about most of the Brands Marshals both old and new. Rod will be sorely missed and post 24 will a lonlier place without him.
May you rest in peace Rod. Alan |
