Cause I wrote off my beloved Monza Spyder I had spent a year building . Also many years before I spent a few weeks preparing a works Imp for a company I was working for to see that destroyed in front of me on the first lap by the lovely Lianna Engleman, I think the place is a bit Mickey Mouse really and Paddock Bend is nothing short of dangerous man have I seen some guys come to grief there (IMHO of course).

In recent years Paddock Bend at Lydden has been subject to a number of improvements. The bank has been moved back (at least twice), tyre walls installed and a larger gravel trap put in. I'm told by drivers that it is a challenging corner, especially with the change of camber mid way through. It still will catch out some drivers, but accidents are a lot less severe than in years gone by.

I have to agree with ss collins - Lydden is "mega".

Apart from that I can't get out of 2nd gear I must admit it is at least 10 years since I raced there.

I wish that had been before 1998. I clipped the kerb which sent me onto 2 wheels, I managed to get the car back down only to pile straight through the non-existant gravel trap and into the tyre wall. Autosport printed the picture and the insides of my legs still have the marks from the crutch strap!!!
Also got the whole thing on video from a spectator.

That is exactly the type of accidents I am talking about Ali, I stood there watching one day and I swear at least 4 cars did that on one afternoon (including Len Colley, are you reading this Lenny?), the tyres dig into the trap but as the driver is frantically trying to go right it flips the car sending it straight and hard into the barrier, must still be treated with great respect I bet even if modified now.

I've only driven 6 circuits (and only raced on 4 of those)

1) Brands Hatch Indy (Paddock made me smile so hard my face hurt!)
2) Silverstone International (first ever race)
3) Goodwood (for the sheer nostalgia, and it's where I did my ARDS)
4) Mallory Park (lined up against my Brother and my Dad in June 2005)
5) Snetterton (just like it)
6) Thruxton (only because I haven't raced there yet)

Right then....

Cadwell Full
Lydden
Brands GP
Oulton Full (pre-Knickerbrook neutering)
Thruxton
Silverstone GP
Donington GP
Silverstone Intl
Donington National
Castle Combe (pre mods)
Croft (pre 96)
Croft (post 96)
Pembury

Now, the worst circuits. (best at the top)

Brands Indy (yawn - except paddock)
Silverstone National (familiarity breeds contempt!)
Mallory
Snetterton (blast, brake, blast, brake, blaaaaaast, braaaaaake!, blast, hang on, brake, repeat until chequered flag) I look forward to the re-modelling of the circuit!

I have left Rockingham out, as I've never actually raced there. But I do like the place, both the road course, and the oval.

Same goes for Silverstone Stowe, I like the little circuit, all it lacks are some elevation changes, but after thousands of laps around it, I quite enjoy it.
(what do you reckon Ali - ??)

Hey till wait till you adventually get to race that monster Belmont, I bet then you will appreciate Snetterton more and not like Lydden so much as you just can't open the thing up there.

I like the following
1 Lydden (only place I have won at)
2 Snetterton
3 Donington
4 Oulton
5 Croft
6 Cadwell
This is in the order of ease for me to get to and not necessarily preference of track. I would be equally as happy on all of them.
I don't like Brands Indy very much and have never done the GP circuit so can't comment.

Al, it's the challenge, not the blast!
I prefer Cadwell, you don't do much opening up there!
Snetterton in the Belmont feels like a 1 mile circuit....or less..

Rob.

Yeah but then you get all those tiddlers climbing all over you in the twisty bits. at least at Thruxton and Snet you can put a bit of air between you and them down the straight.
