Liimited wet Tyre choice, what do you think?
Right as you may be aware I am Team Budget Racing and as such have limited resources. I am booked in to race tomorrow at Brands (Saturday) but the weather looks patchy. Now my Camaro IROC is currently fitted with treaded (but not very deep) Kumho medium compound tyres but if the heavens open I have three choices.
(1) I leave the Kumhos on. (265 x 45 x 16). (2) Fit a set of hard old Falken road tyres with a lot of tread (255 x 50 x 16). (3) Fit the wheels and tyres from my Historic Camaro these are fully treaded Dunlop D84J (treaded race tyres) and seem good in the wet but smaller (225 x 55 x 15). So what do you experts think I would be best taking with me, the Falkens or the narrower Dunlops. |

I think it'd be best to give me the Dunlop 225.55X15 as they will be useless for your car in the wet, much more suited to a Dtype. I could then let you have a set of Falken 215. 55X15 in place of them, equally as bad but will never wear out.
It ain't gonna rain tomorrow so don't worry about it. |

Al, the Kumhos are fine in the wet as long as there's no standing water.
This link shows bright weather for tomorrow. http://www.bbc.co.uk/weather/5day.shtml?id=1612&links But is also shows all day sun today, as I type this in the peeing rain |

Leave them on - pay a visit to the stone circle at Trottiscliffe (bout 5 mins from brands) pray to the rain god and you will be fine.
