3 From the Vaults

Not much happening around here at the moment so here's 3 from a while ago that never made it on site.

1, Lakeside, comes from my bridge phase and more specifically spanning across 2 sections of track.

2, Doesn't have a name as such but features "twin hairpins" one on the GP loop and the other on the Club circuit. The crossing points are all level (no bridges) on a fairly flat landscape. The first corner was part of the original layout but has had the infield section added later

3, The idea was a partially demolished oval that had one high banked corner saved. The remainder of the circuit pretty much fits into the Ovals original grounds. The banking is 25+ degrees, with the long pit road wide enough to be raced on by series that didn't want to use the banking, with a merge onto the front straight.

As usual comment criticisms and edits are welcome...

It's funny SBF.

It seems that with nearly all your circuits there are bits that I just love, and bits I hate. I'll comment first on what I think then I'll set to work on a few edits. The first offering has some amazing sections in, noticably the bit along the sie front, the sort of Portland esque shaped bit in the top left and the esses sort've near the bridge are great. I also like the tight corner at the bottom of the bride.

The second one is interesting, I like the idea you've had for combining the two circuits. My favourite corner is the long one in the middle of the circuit. I don't like the knobbly bits in the bottom left.

The third one has real potential. I'll show you what I'd do shortly.

Stylistically, these are 3 very typical SBF designs. By now, you've got a distinct handwriting.

I consider the one by the lakeside to be pretty enjoyable, but would like to suggest a few corrections:
-the 90 degree left 90 degree right Esse at the end of the s/f- straight seems unnecessary. A longer straight leading towards the hairpin would be way better for racing action and would flow better, too. It doesn't matter if that means including a long mild left hand bow at the end of the straight or moving the hairpin down a little and more to the left
-the first part of the Esse at the top left side of the paddock should have a greater radius to allow for overtaking into the hairpin at the left of the diagram - that is only if there is enough space.
Besides that, the lakeside road is beautiful. All in all I like this one best of the three.

The ex-oval comes in 2nd place, and is the one where I'd love to see an IRL race on.

But the GP circuit of the GP/club circuit combination is not quite what I like. I think it's too long and too Mickey-Mousey in certain places, like in the first time sector. There isn't anything that could be done to this circuit, because that is just its character. Another thing is that the Esse at the back of the paddock completely ruins the straight coming out of the infield and leading towards the final hairpin. I probably would have left an empty infield instead, but things like that are not very welcome any more among race organisers these days (see Hockenheim), so it's probavly not the best idea either.
I hope this was of any help.

Anyway, the graphics are of top quality, as always. Thanks for posting the designs. If I had more spare time at the moment, I'd try a few edits, but alas, I can't.

CU next time :-)
