North Weald Borough 19MC Sprint
For the 1st time in many years, I attended a Borough 19 sprint.
As usual, an excellent job was done by all in freezing conditions. it reminded me why I used to compete in speed events; a good social day out with some very competitive people. But how has speed events changed so much since I was active on the scene. I raced a variety of single seaters. Then, we used to have loads of special saloons, single seaters incl F. Fords, in fact we had so many race cars, we needed a trailer park. Today's event was more like driving around the M25, from the point of view that there were so many road-going cars ! I know it has been caused by the MSA changing classes around and bike-engined S/seaters dominating previous classes. There must be loads of proper toys sitting un-used in garages because of the perception that "there is no point in coming out as they will be beaten by the bike-engined cars" Your thoughts everyone? |
