Paul Morris - Enduro Co-Driver?

Has Wayne Wakefield been officially confirmed, i know he raced at Canberra with the help of Morris, but has it been officially confirmed.

I know Morris has tested Gary Formato, Wakefield deserves a good seat though.

good question ????

dunno about the Morris team they seem to be all at sea and giving anyone a shot in the car for the chance of a bit of exposure , Darryl Beattie was in the car as too i believe was Mick Doohan and of course WW.

of those three i guess WW would be the best choice for experience , but dont count out the others I guess, and who is Gary Formato ?????

Greg Rust and Darryl Beattie were simply a publicity stunt.

WW will be at Oran Park too, and unless the temperature in hell starts to drop, I'd imagine he has the drive...

Gary Formato races (or did race) in the FIA Sportscar Championship.

There was a story in AA a few weeks back about what Morris might be doing for enduro's and mentioned those two names (WW and Formato), i guess nothing has been confirmed.

Are they expecting Wayne to bring money? I hope not, he shouldn't have to.

Ahhhhh, I wondered where that came from. Was it done to get him some race miles? It certainly didn't do his reputation any good.

Canberra is the last place I would be paying for a guy to get race miles.

There are a few theories why Wakefield didn't drive at the Power Tour or the Shagger down at Winton... have a think about it for a while...

Wayne Wakefield is confirmed.

In order for him to get more miles,Paul and Wayne have done a deal with Mike Imrie for wayne to drive a few rounds in the 14 car. Hence he was at canberra and will be at Oran park.

Yes as far as I can tell it has been confirmed

Yeah No Probs, Mr Patterson. When I was at Darwin V8 round I spoke with WW about an hour or so after his green rocket was DQ'd.

He told me he wasnt driving with Ambrose as he had originally been because Weel had the Gig but instead he was driving in the Sirromet car.

Its since been reported elsewhere about the Imrie Thing.

I'm surprised that SBR dropped him for Weel, do they honestly believe Weel would do a better job? OR did Wayne sign with Morris before SBR had a chance?

Nope, word has it that SBR might be looking after Weel's normal car in the not too distant future. Did anyone find it funny that they swapped cars with Ambrose at a recent test session?

I've seen Wayne's effort in Club Cars, and i know the V8's are a different animal, but the guy has plenty of talent !!
Good luck to him, i hope he gets the job and does well...

Put it this way, Up in the Corporate Box where Wayne visited us ( and the ford Promo Girls- WW you old devil!!!!- I have photos to porve it!)

Wayne was there when Morris had one of his minor excursions into the dirt just near the box.

Wayne wasn't all that impressed. Me thinks if he had been quick enough he'd have taken over the driving.

What about Andrew Mediecke, David Brabham, Geoff Brabham, Neal Bates or even Mark Gibbs. now all of these drivers would be fast enough to do the job at hand. Don't forget Gibbs started on the front row at Bathurst in the past

I'm intrigued about what happened to Mark Gibbs. He was a star in Group E in the late 80s, but we haven't seen him regularly since the GIO Nissan GTR in 1992, and the last i remember of him is co-driving with Crompton in the GIO Commodore in the enduros in 1993.

Without going into it too deeply, Mark Gibbs probs was not work committments, more a case of doing some irrepairable damage at Indy a few years back.
