Mugen Honda - Will they return?
Could we see a Jordan Mugen Honda again next season? Or is it too late for that? Just wondering, because Jordan did quite well with Mugen engines from '98-'00.

I dont know if Honda could live with losing to another team running what is essentially their own motor. I would love to see it happen but it seems rather unlikely.

Don't think it will happen until Honda sort themselves out properly imo!

Jordan won 3 races with mugen power, but the engine was different to (better than) the one the BAR competed with in its 1st year. If it were to go back to the mugan idea it would be a badged current spec engine and that isnt really a way ahead for Jordan. EJ has probably shaken $10m loose from honda to release them from the engine deal, and now Honda find that he has set up a works deal with Ford (they must feel so used! hahaha) nope Honda and EJ is over. I think that Honda are having second thoughts about dumping Jordan but its too late. why second thoughts? did you see the way that sato (rookie) passed Villenuve (ex-champion) in cars with the same power, that has to say something about the quality of engineering within the teams. Without Jordan the Honda program may loose its way (again)
But will someone else pay for a supply of ex Honda engines? wouldnt suprise me. doubt they would be badged as Mugan though Last edited by bosch!; 2 Aug 2002 at 22:57. |

Mugen won't return. What would be the point? Honda are running a factory team and the last thing they'd want is to be beaten by a Mugen!!

Mugen F1 program was dismantled when Honda added Jordan. This is a non-topic.
