Tom Ferrier will become the youngest driver to take part in the top flight of the BTCC in April at Brands Hatch. 19 year-old Ferrier will has signed to race Triple Eight's third Vauxhall Astra alongside Jason Plato and Yvan Muller.
Also, Gary Ayles MSport, Janspeed Engineering and Stefan Lindberg have announced a combined assault on the BTC Production Class. The new team will be called 'GA-Janspeed Racing' and will run a pair of Alfa 156's in the BTCP and a Honda Accord in some rounds of the ETCC. This means that now only 10 cars are likely to register for the BCTT. |

Did you read this week's autosport, John Cleland has denied claims that he might return to the touring car championship!

There is still speculation that a fourth astra will be entered for 'an experienced driver'. Ferrier signed before xmas, but jc may still yet sign. great news, heh!

Nice to see a young driver getting a chance. The bit that made me smile though was when I read what he said.
Along the lines of, the cars are faster than he is used to and slower than Plato and muller are used to, so it will be a level playing field! YEAH RIGHT |

JC is too far down the ASCAR road to reconsider but it wouldn't take too much to tempt him back for 2002.
I would eat the contents of my cat's litter tray to see Soperman and JC on the track together again, 8 years seems like an age |

A Cleland Speedsport privately entered BTCT Astra for 2002 would be a tad interesting methinks.

Stop living in the past! John Cleland was, and still is a great driver, he gave us some of the funniest in-car tv footage ever seen but you should start backing some of the young drivers that are coming through.

I agree with Nigel in principal but I will respect the new lads and type their names with exclamation marks after they have given me as much enjoyment from watching them race as the likes of JC and Soperman have. That goes for Andy Rouse, Peter Brock and many others who I'm too knackered to mention. yawns.

I reckon that we have actually got the best of both worlds. On one hand, we've got older driver like Soper and Reid, and maybe Cleland yet, as well as more established stars, like Plato, Muller, Neal etc. On top of that we've got young, exciting prospects in the BTCT i.e. Dan Eaves and Tom Ferrier, as well as Macci, Wright, Luby etc. and in the BTCP, we've tonnes of talent to pick from!
