Want to buy a t-shirt
In the gossip column of todays Couirer Mail it said that HRT makes five million dollars a year from merchandise. That's a lot of t-shirts. And to think they used to throw them to the crowd for free

I was thinking more of the numbers,20 teams x $5,000,000 = $100,000,000,that's a lot of zero's.
Per year. Gore has said WPS's budget for a year was $5,000,000. but of course not all teams are as popular as HRT so it's probably not quite that much, however even a quarter of that is still good money. I wonder where it all goes and who has what percentage. 10% of 5 million is $500,000,nice if you can get it.Wasn't part of the reason Lowndes left HRT was that he was not getting a slice of the pie. If people want to buy the clothing thats fine by me,I just get this image in my head of sheep being sheared thats all.Tribalism it's called I think. And how much of this money goes back to promoting motor racing as a sport that people can afford,to upgrading circuits and so on.None I guess.Someone would rather have you dressed like a thousand other clones cheering on "your team" at a street circuit than competing for yourself at a permanent track. Very Sad. No rotating smilie this post. |
