If the regulars aren't too opposed, I'll open an off season thread. Don't know where else to post some stuff.

An interesting read on Dillon Battistini's (and Ernesto Viso's) test with Minardi at crash.net.

Isn’t he on a long term deal?

That would mean a big contract pay off, not a good thing for GF

He is on a long-term deal. I'm not sure what a payoff would be, likely have to be settled in courts. These suggestions apparently come from PT's mom.

we had a few jump up last year that didnt happen (Galles , Jensen)

I havent heard any new names yet.

and drivers too guys like Matos and Perara (sp) should get a run after good Atlantic form , so I guess we should be looking for those to to test soon as well (hopefully anyway , Matos especially as he has a nice cheque to take along , I know a Pay driver but a damm fine and deserving one

)

They're gonna have to buy cars from existing teams...

Dunno about new teams Marcus but a third car from Minardi works too, if they could pull it off. Perera was to test with Forsythe/Pettit last week, not sure how that went. And yeah, nothing new on Matos.

Perera testing for Forsythe? No indication Forsythe is running a third car and he almost didn't run two in '07. The series needs a Mexican driver or two to interest the folks in Mexico City and he had Martinez.

Yup. Forsythe probably funded the second car out of his own pocket for the most of the season (Indeck sponsoring...), the exceptions being Dominguez's three races and possibly the two Martinez did (even if they did need another Mexican for the last race I assume that they had the sense to try and get some money from him). I don't know what difference Petit will do, but it is worth remembering that both Bell Micro and Gulfstream followed with him from PKV to RuSport (Servia ran Gulfstream livery in 2006 and Kat ran Bell Micro) - maybe we will se either or both of those on Forsythe cars next year. Especially if they dump tracy as he's got Monster Energy Drink as his personal sponsor...

Negrao has more money than talent, yes. He isn't the worst driver out there however; GP2 is a very competitive championship and he wasn't catastrophical for the less-than-great Piquet/Minardi team this year (which seemed lost without Nelson Jr. racing for them). And he did finally get himself a podium. There are better drivers than him in CC but certainly worse too...

Don't worry, last couple of racing team situations did not work either. It is not the team, it is the driver in this case.

Havent seen the Tracy speculation, where it this being discussed.

Autosport notes that FPR has a holding contract on Perrera that would see him race in either their Atlantic or Champ Car stables.
