Jyllandsringen F5000 race 1973
Does anyone have any memories or documentation of the F5000 race on the tiny Jyllandsringen circuit in Denmark in 1973?
Below is a summary of the information I currently have: 1 Ian Ashley 6 Lola T330 [HU17]-Chevrolet V8 84 1.09.12.1 2 Teddy Pilette 33 Chevron B24 [24.73.04]-Chevrolet V8 84 1.09.40.1 3 Gijs van Lennep 1 Lola T330 [HU18]-Chevrolet V8 83 4 Tom Belsø 208 Lola T330 [HU2]-Chevrolet V8 83 5 Keith Holland 25 Trojan T101 [101]-Chevrolet V8 83 6 Jac Nelleman McLaren M18 [500-04]-Chevrolet V8 82 7 Brett Lunger 2 Trojan T101 [102]-Chevrolet V8 82 8 Clive Santo Lola T330 [HU21]-Chevrolet V8 79 9 Guy Edwards 4 Lola T330 [HU16]-Chevrolet V8 71 10 Chris Featherstone Lola T190 [F1/14]-Chevrolet V8 70 Also entered: Tony Dean 8 Chevron B24 [24.73.01]-Chevrolet V8 Steve Thompson 15 Chevron B24 [24.73.06]-Chevrolet V8 Chris Craft 34 Chevron B24 [24.73.07]-Chevrolet V8 Brian Robinson McLaren M19C [2]-Chevrolet V8 Bob Evans 11 Trojan T101 [104]-Chevrolet V8 Graham McRae 22 McRae GM1 [015]-Chevrolet V8 Richard Knight McLaren M10B [400-05]-Chevrolet V8 Trevor Twaites Lola T330 [HU6]-Chevrolet V8 I have qualifying times down to 9th and grid order, but crucially have very poor heat results so can't get a grip on lower order finishers. This is rather a blot on the 1973 results for oldracingcars.com and I'd really value ANY help here. |

Chris, I had a chat with Tom Belso today who has lived here in the UK for many years and has his business not far from me.
I mentioned your request and he suggests contacting the circuit, (sure they have a website) and he reckons they would probably have a results archive and could fax these results to you. He has a few results of his F5000 races stashed away but not all, and he is uncertain of having anything from this particular meeting. Hope this helps. |

Thanks for that, I'll try and get in touch with them. Great to know that the smiling Dane is still around. It would be great to have him contribute something to this forum. He was always such a hard trier with often rather tired machinery and always seemed to be enjoying his racing - unlike today's robotic 'professionals'. Tom would, as a competitor, be more likely to have official results and timing sheets I guess, so if he ever feels like digging... [Especially as he raced in the very early F.Atlantic races.] |

I just checked Autoweek and its story is very brief. It was written by Mike Kettlewell - I wonder if he still has his records? Allen |
