Brabham BT35
This was an interesting and enjoyable commission.
The Brabham (BT35 -8) is the car that David Morgan won the 1st round of the 1972 European F2 Championship at Mallory Park. I wasn't there but remember the reports in Autosport as it was a bit of a giant killing act, against much superior opposition. The car ended up in Australia and was lovingly cared for and raced down under by Bryan Miller. A good friend of Bryan's commissioned this artwork as a 2014 Christmas present. Bryan sold the car in early 2014 and ironically it's back in the UK. I made a few enquiries and found out that it's now being prepared by Simon Hadfield near Donington. I had the pleasure of visiting Simon's Workshops and photographed the car for all the detail information and I thank the team for their generous help with this project. I found photos of the 72 race which pretty much aligned with the modern pictures I was sent of the car in it's current state. So 1972 meets 2014...Then as Now Bryan Miller leads Niki Lauda around the Mallory Hairpin |
