Tricky,
I would agree with your point if Holden, TWR, whatever it is now (perhaps i will call it - Symbol "the team formally known as TWR) actually had all six franchises under the same ownership entity or indeed had a financial ownership interest in them all but the more i hear I am not sure that is the case. in fact outside of geography, I am finding very little similar in corporate structure of the three teams. i think TEGA might indeed backdown from this one eventually. |

Would have to agree 05 I assume that TEGa would have to also consider the sponsors and fans potential backlash to the series as well. But at the end of the day rules are rules, but I agree that flexabilty may be required.

TEGA should be concentrating on enforcing the rules as they are at the time, which is partially what they are doing. If the rules are to be changed there is a system there that allows a vote to change.

I dont think flexibility is the issue in six cars I think that there is no way they would so obviously try and break the rules. I firmly believe that the structure will be setup so that there is no way it can be proved a six car team.
It may appear like it but it will not that way. Everyone is intersted in rule maximisation. In politics we used to have a saying - everything is black and white until you write it down. Thats when Solicitors, Courts and Lay lawyers all start interpreting and reinterpreting the intention and the actuality of the words etc. Holden dont have a monopoly on this.it is called innovation in its nicest form and everyteam strives for the maximum advantage within the rules. And like tennis on the line is in. It is only when you cross over that you are cheating. Holden would not expose themself to that |

05 you hit the nail on the head, "it will be set up so that there is no way it can ever be proved a six car team".
Tell me why Jason Bright would ever leave the best team to go and drive for a team that has no runs on the board? All respect to Kees, but the car was no where last year, and then it wins a race first up this year. |

I realise that, and we all know where the car came from.

Kees Weel in whatever legal entity owns the L2 franchise his son races under, and the leasehold of the IMS franchise for Jason Bright to run
JFR still own their franchise, the one Kmart operates under Holden stepped in to purchase the old TWRA's L1 franchise, and this is the main kerfuffle. So the Weels own a L1 and a L2 and a leased L2... whoopee The 6 cars in the "Symbol" race fleet, and the 2 spares, were constructed by the same group of people. No harm in that, indeed the Nash car to appear later will be a CPR unit, Romano's is ex-HRT, Kiwi's is ex-GRM... These 6 cars are prepared in a physical location that is close in proximity... i.e. they are a stonesthrow from one another in the Clayton Business Park. Is this worse than LMS and Thexton operating next door to each other?? Let Holden sell its franchise and keep the teams intact... it cant be proven they are helping one another.. or is this like traction control in F1, when they couldnt determine if it was used or not, they banned it for simplicity??? |

this in a form goes back to the nissan days & godzila where they wouldnt sell to anyone, if for instance GMS wanted to buy a current HRT car would HRT sell them one, most probably not, yet both KMART & TB both have current HRT spec cars. it may be impossible to legaly prove this but the fact that these teams have HRT cars sais in some way that there is a common intrest between the 3 teams. they each say that they dont share data if that is true then where did KMART initally & now TB( with a different design car)get the setup data to be instantly on the pace.
even with the amount of funding they have there is little chance of these teams being near the front without HRTs help, now every man & his dog knows there is a common link between the teams other than just the cars, its whether this can be legaly proven............. |

Set up data comes with the car. If I bought a car from CPR or GRM tomorrow, I would refuse to take delivery unless a quantity of last season setup data for spring rates, shock settings and sway bar diameters accompanied my purchase
Indeed Team Kiwi was given set up data for the VX04 they currently run as part of the GRM arrangement... so are they too now cheating by running 3 cars by stealth? Or indeed LMS with Thexton? Or Nash with CPR... The people working at Team Brock were the very same ones who ran the HYL program in 2002. Last time I looked, Rick Kelly in 2002 did very very well on occassion... and the team had the skill to set cars up well. With a more experienced deiver like Jason Bright on board, this can only get stronger. |

TEGA/AVESCO will need to see the final "ownership" (and legal entity) arrangements before they lock the gates to the Clipsal 500 V8 compound Wednesday night!!
I'd suggest that if the new HRT/HRO arrangements are stalled, delayed or denied, then I'd suggest that the punters would become restless and feel very cheated and there would be considerable future backlash from punters. Mike |

I cna tell you that Holden owns the HRT L1 franchise, JFR operates KRT under its owned L1 franchise, and PWR operates under the PWR and leased IMS L2 franchises.
So the ownership to my mind isnt in question. |

Owning a Franchise and owning a Team is two different matters.

GTR, there is no problem with Castrol running Longhurst, GRM running the TKR car or Larkham running Thexton as a 'team' can run up to 4 cars. The Holden problem is it is seen to be running 6 under it's wing.
The 'ownership' rules of teams are covered by a few different criteria; Financial, Economical, Beneficial and Legal. |

If you can scratch up a 2003 AVESCO Teams Licence Agreement I would be able to agree with you...
Since that document is as rare as unobtanium, and the teams are shyt scared of being assassinated by TC, very few people know the exact contents of the entire document! All that is likely to happen then, is Kees Weel buys 2 VX Commodores for $1 each, and all the equipment and whacko there you go, sorted! |

Firstly, as far as i'm concerned i don't think there should be a rule capping how many cars a team can run
The cars will be at Adelaide in no different look/ team setup than how they were at the Grand Prix (except maybe a different name to replace Holden on the ownership papers). |

Not really relevant when Skaife is the undisputed #1 in that team and the rest make up the numbers

I was under the impression that CAMS "controls" motorsport in Oz, and that Avesco oversees that particular class, and TEGA was a group representing the teams. |

AVESCO is the category manager, a right it took over from CAMS. CAMS involvement is the certification of the AVESCO category through its links to the FIA, to provide a number of support staff for the meetings etc.
TEGA owns 75% of AVESCO, SEL owns the other 25%. |

Rumour is that Peter Brock will be the new head honcho of HRT. Where this leaves the current staff at HRT will be interesting. Will Skaife's 5 year deal stand. Will Crennan be still there. All very interesting.
Just got to wait and see if it happens now but it would have to be tomorrow or Friday at the latest. |

Why is it that whenever there is an issue of rules being bent HRT are ALWAYS apart of it. HRO are once again treating everyone like fools. Holden didn't like the fact that last year Brocks name was on a shhitbox and his team was a joke. He still sold truck loads of merchandise and that hurt HRT's sales. Holden wanted Brock back up the front and HRT was the way to do that. Plus the merchandise money stayed in the HRO pool and not in Brocks pocket. They are bending the rules and there is no other way to put it. If Ford were doing it and winning HRT and Holden would be the first to cry. They should be allowed to race but under investigation. If they don't fix it by a set date they loose their points. I used to support HRT until they shafted Lowndes. HRT **** on whoever they want and have so far gotten away with it. They now think they are bigger than the sport and need to be pulled into line.
