Algarve Classic Festival -28th October
Hi,
I am trying to find somebody to transport my car to the Algarve Classic Festival from the UK . Can anybody recommend anyone that may have spare trailer/transporter space? |

You can try, but.....
There's a huge 'logistics' issue this year, with the big Peter Auto event at Imola weekend before the Algarve. There literally is not time for a truck to return from Italy and get to Portugal! Most of the transport specialists are servicing Imola, and I'm committed as well. As we are racing at the Portimao event, our car is having to be sent out with someone else with us flying there. Feels very odd....... I can't speak for Delta but understand he may be in the same situation. I think someone like CARS are large enough to be able to cope with both meetings. We are hoping to use another specialist, Paul Jesty, who is trying to have trucks cover both meetings. I will PM his contact details to the OP. Other preparers such as Jeremy Welch, Pearsons, Simon Hadfield and Blakeney-Edwards MS (to name a few!) sometimes have space as well, but don't always know until near the date...... Believe there is a Caterham race the same weekend and McMillan Motorsport based in Hinkley will be going to that and they have the ability to transport a lot of cars with their trucks, you could try them and see if they have an extra space.

I'll be racing in GTSCC with Simon Orebi Gann, driving his Morgan SLR again. It's usually my final truck trip of the year, but as I'm at Imola weekend before this time, we've had to arrange for someone else to transport the car! All feels a bit odd- will be first time since the event started that have not driven and ferried all the way there and back...... Lets hope the weather reverts to that which we enjoyed in the early events, and not the rain of last two or three years! |

Enjoy Mike....you will get used to the fly and drive!
Although a great circuit we are giving it a miss this year. The overly officious security team put us off. |

Well, I made it to the Algarve! Got back from Imola with truck mid Wednesday afternoon, up at 2am next morn to get to Gatwick for Faro flight. That delayed 2.5hrs due to fog.......
No sun but mid 20s, still warm walking back from a restaurant on the beach in the evening last night! Free practice for GTSCC this morning, so early brekkie then off..... |

Will, the final instructions received before event said that circuit access would be from 1700hrs Wednesday, and apparently it was. So can't complain about that! No hassle so far with parking inside during day, apart from when we showed the wrong pass.....
Still love the circuit layout and driving the SLR round it. |

So you qualified 21st, Mike - second Morgan......but if the first one is as I suspect, Keith Ahlers, he knows his Morgans and is no mean driver
I see some teams have 3 drivers - what length is the race? (BTW - you weren't moonlighting in the Healey in front of you, were you? I see there's another "Bell" in there |

Not expecting anything for this race as v competitive class! Includes the Fezza Breadvan somehow......
Race is 2hrs, with two driver changes, so possible to run 3 drivers. Owner has to do 50% or more of the race though. Anyway, having had a team DNF last weekend at Imola when the (plain alloy finish) SLR engine went sick, I've just had to change the head gasket on the red car, as when fired up after Q it disgorged a cylinder full of water over the garage floor! So expectations for tomorrow even lower now, but fingers well and truly crossed..... Just had another gelato to compensate! |

Fortified by brekky, now off to circuit. Lovely day again, looks like going to be mid 20s for race! Contrast to the last year or two when weather was less than expected on the Algarve....
Just need to whip rocker cover off to check head bolts and clearances, then it's in the lap of the gods! |
